first question:

If I were to convert to the Little screemers Park Jet Special and a 35A 4cell ESC, with a 2100 4cell 20c/30c lipo it should theoretically be able to spin 60,000rpm+.

Can anyone calculate for me the thrust produced by the stock Fan unit at that Rpm?

Do you think that the stock Impeller can withstand 60,000rpm without coming apart?

Is there a carbon fiber impeller available that can replace the stock impeller?

Do you think that the trust produced from 60,000 rpm will be enough to push the fantom to 100 mph?

Thanks

we run ay 60,000 all the time on that fan, accually, its 62,000 rpm at 20 amps, and around 22oz of thrust, it should do around 105-110mph on 4s/JS. no need to buy a differnt impeller, besides. they dont make one. plus, i think its carbon re-inforced. good luck, and let us know how you like it!

Thanks Corsair,

I really appreciate the advise, I will shortly be giving it a try, really been hearing some great things about that new little screemer parkjet special motor.

Hey what speed control are you using with yours?

Thanks

Scott >>>

Gonna use the stock fantom motor and speed control in my new Hobby-Lobby SoarJet...

yo uwant to use the XF fan(stock fantom fan) with the JET SCREAM motor. not the park jet. i use the jetti 18 on 3s, but youll need a esc capable of 4s, like a jetti spin 22, or a castle creations 35, but it has to compatible with 4s.

Corsair,

Basically what your saying is; Get the 5100 kv "JETSceamer".
-The one with or without the 21mm adaptor?

Sorry I said Parkjet screamer, I called out the wrong one.

But the ESC I would think would need to be at least 30A?

Your recommending an 18A ESC, and also a 22A ESC? - Thay will not overheat with a 4cell lipo capable of delivering a 60+ Amp. burst ??? Even the stock ESC is 30A. Please educate me on this...

What is the max the stock motor can handel, has anyone tried just changing the stock ESC to a 4cell capable unit, and then testing it with a 4cell lipo. If it doesn't burn-up, what kind of thrust numbers and RPM are you getting out of it?

Just a thought...

if you run the stock motor on 4s, it will work, but wont last long. it WILL pull 30 amps+. the JS with the adapter(the adapter is needed for your fan) on 4s you will only pull 20 amps on 4s, and about 13 on 3s. the reason the amps are so much lower, is its outrunner design. you will pull 10+ amps less than the stock motor on 4s. like i said, it will be around 20. RVINCENT uses the spin 22 on 4s all day long. you stock esc may work well with it too. it try it that way first. then all you would need would be the 4s 2100 10-15C batt and the JS with adapter. try to run the stock motor on 4s..you may get 5-10 flight if your lucky. your better off saving that motor for another model. the JS will shock you for the amount of power, and low amps it makes.

Thanks again, I'm finally starting to get the picture. The JS outrunner design is exceptionally more efficient then the stock inrunner, so therefore, it only requires a certain Amp draw to perform at it's peek level, so having a lipo that can provide 50 amps won't neccessarily make t any faster, it only uses what it needs , and the rest is like extra fuel in the tank so to speak... The ESC only has to be rated at an Amp level that equivalent to the motor's max draw - not the max amp level the lipo can provide, because if the motor never requires it, then the esc will never see the max amps that the lipo could provide...

How am I doing here?

you got it toyota!

i just ran my JS in a alfa fan(3 blades) this pulls slightly more than the XF fan, and it was 20.5amps at WOT. my 5 blade fan pulls 29amps, but the thrust is unreal for a fan that small. these JS's are crazy. so my sabre will have the 5 blade fan, and the mig will have the 3 blade, both on 4s. im going to try the XF rotor in my sabre too.it will only pull aorund 19-20 amps on 4s, but the speed will be around 105-110mph on 4s. should be alot of fun!

the amps rating on the lipo's just tells you what the battery is capable of sustaining amp wise, and the esc only needs to be rated for what the motor is pulling amp wise. so a thunderbird 18 can be used on 3-4S(even though it only says 2-3S) thats what i just tested my fans on. keep them is the airflow, and youll be fine. also, a jetti 18 will work ,and a jetti spin 22. all will work with 4s and be within there amp draw. hope this helps you!

I know your out there looking in ; How about posting some of your new Fantom fly-by video's. Your brother has got to be getting better at keeping the camera on that little rocket of yours by now?

Thanks,

Xorbe,

I'm gonna paint mine similar to your's - probably Red/Black.

I still can't believe the Fantom comes with "Blue" decals, on such a fast plane, against a blue sky, so easy to lose perspective, or lose sight of it completely, it gets away from you so quickly. You have the right Idea with your bright paint job, I understand now why you did it...

Hey do you think that any old brand of spray paint will work on EPS foam, or should I stick with Testers (It worked on yours - didn't melt anything)?

the answer seems simple enough

Where one is good 2 must be better.

That is AWSOME !!! (SaY it like Chris Farley)

I had heard rumor that Phase 3 Was going to make the Fantom-2...

No I;m kidding - I know that you modded that yourself. I've just got to ask - Have you flown it?

With the weight of the added fan, and the added speed control plus I'd suspect two Lipo packs, what is it's overall weight now? The stock single fan Fantom with a 20c/30c 2100 in it is just a bit on the heavy side at 19-22 oz.
