Got my self a gray F-22 a few weeks ago and placed a Evolution .61NX in it. Today was the day for the maiden.

Got to the flying field and set the plane on the runway, I headed down and found that I had the controls set a bit high and wow was it fun, I got it around ok and even trimmed it out. I did about a 4 min flight and landed without problems but wow did it come in hot without the flaps on (I forgot to hit the switch). I made some changes on the radio and placed a 11x9 prop on it for flight two. I flew about 5 flights today and have to say I love it!

Looks very cool in the air, I wasn't sure aboot that big nitro motor in the front but once it's in the air you don't even really see it much.

I've got a brand new red, white and blue one that I've flown twice. Love the plane but I need to sell it for another project I'm working on (going big, 100cc). Anyone interested in buying this plane, it is one sweet plane.

I bought a Hanger 9 F-22 for $60.00 on ebay, the noise was cracked in the usual place. After adding the light ply supports, moving the batter to where the rx is and the rx to the other side, bending the back landing gear out an inch to lower it, and propping it to a 2 blade 11x6; I find she flies very well. I have tried to tip stall her, but she will not do it, she loses enough power to start climbing down, but not one tip stall.

This was a fun review to read.

While picking up a Ultra Sports kit at a local flyers home he made mention he just acquired one of these. It was the RTF version, however he had pulled the radio gear out and sold it. Also he had "lost" all the plastic wing extensions.

Having looked recently at a few relaxing fun flyers I figured why not, on the F-22. So for less then a hundred bucks I took home a new airframe, less radio.

Ran the Evo motor for the first time today at home. She popped right off and I broke it in on 2 tanks of fuel. I'm surprised and impressed how well it runs and idles. Good throttle response <on the ground> and it turns a 10x6 prop to over 13K RPM. No doubt that will fly it.

Reset the down thrust to 2 degrees and the nose mod has been done already.

My question now lies with the C of G. Some seem to indicate that the factory C of G at 6"s is a tad tail heavy. Just wondering what the thought process was on that?

tommy ditcch that engine for a start the stanadrd one with the kit is cr*P you need something a minimum of a .53 upwards as standard is too slow youll never get off the ground shimming the motor is a good idea but youve probably shimmed the wrong side until you take off for first time you wont know you should of done a taxi-in run without shimming to see which side it wandered then shimmed the other side i found 3 flat washers top and bottom the side you are shimming , as for battery pack where you located it in the space at the back near the tail or up near the servos is where mine in as was a little tail heavy i can supply you with pics if needed as for being tail heavy its designed to be tail heavy and lands arse in first like the real thing a few suggestions ive made to strengthen mine futher where the leg mounts for the wheels come into the fusealge get some epoxy resin and epoxy around them as after a while the legs will elongate the mount holes and eventually youll have no undercarriage as for the nose leg rip that nose leg mount out and fix the nose leg in place so its not sterable then put full rates in your rudder to compensate it will steer just as well without the fixed noseleg and save you a lot of headaches in the future also ditch the three blade prop for a 2 blade with decent pitch the 3 blade is no good and lastly rmove your fuel tank and turn your plane on its side look in the top left and right sides and put some epoxy in there not too much just enough to strengthen it as if not if you have a motor that kicks back it easily cracks the balsa i hope this has helped if need anymore advice drop me a message

Hi Timmy

I started with 10+ degrees of DOWN Thrust. I really don't think I needed a high speed taxi run to tell me that I need to remove a bunch of it.

13K on the stock motor will no doubt fly it. I'm running a little more through the stock motor before I fly it <castor for break in>.

If it's a pig, Ill add a Evolution 60.

Take Care

i just got and maidened one of these. it has a super tigre 51 in it with an 11x6 prop. no nacca wing tips on it, flap servo's are installed. didn't change the thrust angle. what a great flying model this is. what a marketing blunder to make it a PTS. they should have left it as a sport model. it would have done better. i over looked this one for years because of the trainer labelling. i thought it would be boring. my LHS had a couple laying around and offered throw one together for a very good price. he truly believed it to be a better model then advertised. i figured eh why not. wow.. great little sports model it turns out to be. it fits in the car without having to remove the wings. it is going to make a great daily flier.

I'm glad to hear your good experience with this plane. (Thanks for following up on this old thread.) I love the way this model looks and couldn't help buying one recently. the one I got was a never fueled red and white RTF. I plan to remove the wing tips, add the flap servos, reduce the down thrust, and add an 11x6 2 bladed prop. I don't get to fly that much, but I hope to maiden it in 2 weeks. I'll post when I do.

it realy is a great flying model. it does require a little down elev mixed with the flaps. but i realy didn't need flaps to land her. the evo 60nx will make it a bullet. it should be a riot to fly. my super tigre 51 is also brand spanking new, everything in it is brand new. the model is also the last version so all the little things were taken care of at the factory and in that sense brand new as well from the box. i'm just glad i got one before they're all gone. glad to see there are a few more of us that realy like this one. my LHS has one more that i'm going to buy for parts, as i could never buy it in pieces for what they're asking for it. this is now my daily flyer and i'm liking it more everytime i send it up. spare parts are a must have. it's a gem that H9 packaged as a turd. so much better then visa versa. good luck with your models maidens gentlemen, we did well in choosing them. BTW mines a red and white as well. i like the color. i think it serves well with kraut on the side, as the pic shows.
