Actually the wise man said "Move to Florida, fly often”
Helps to have lights on your plane too!

Delivery today

James and Karen have got the customer service down.

I met James at SEFF and had in mind to order a SSX to replace my duststick with Glowwire.

The Duststick didn't handle the extra weight of the glowwire that well and I really wanted to have the ailerons.

I wanted a package with the wing kit, a slow stick fuselage and the gear kit since I wanted to build in the glow wire.

They put together the kit I needed rightaway.

I placed my order on the Monday nite the 4th and the box arrived today, Thursday. Everything looked great in the box and I've been reading the instructions.

I'm going to start the build on rainy days and will document my build on my blog.

Thanks again to the Karpy's and I have great hopes for this ship.

Motor Selection

As I begin here I'm pretty sure that the tiny motor on the duststick isn't going to be adequate here.

Please list motors any of you have used and your opinion of their suitability
for a SSX carrying a little extra weight for the glow wire, the glow wire transformer and a 9 volt battery.

Thanks.

My night flyer has the e-flight 450 Outrunner. The Hacker A20-22L would be a better choice. Use a 10-4.7 SF prop and a 1320 3 cell lipo. I posted some motor options on post one of this thread. I always try to update my first post with the latest stuff. I finished updating the instructions on Tuesday, after I shipped to you. The latest is on post one.

Thanks for the nice comments!

Got my parts today! Thanks James! Now to start final assembly! WOO HOO!!! James, are you going to get someone to do a review on the Micro SSX like TRAM did on this one? I'd love to hear what somebody (other than the hounds that got to fly it at SEFF ) has to say about it. You know we all loved them both!

Cool, ...is the SS stock tail wheel wire stout enough? Or do I need to modify that some way?

What sort of AUW are you all getting with SSX builds

1)What sort of AUW are you all getting with SSX builds
2) anyone use it for AP - my AP stick setup is quite a porker, but adding ailerons would be nice for copilot use. Already running a PJS800e, so changing wings is an option...

It is good enough; I have never felt that it was a real problem.

James,

Is there any way you could post a jpeg or gif of the SSX logo? I need to modify it to be an SSX2 for my twin engine SSX and it would be easier to have one printed out with the '2' than to modify the original....

I have allways cut 2 pieces of old servo linkage wire it the length of the tail wheel wire and used sewing thread and CA to bind them together. This keeps the SS tail gear from bending under wieght.....
