OK, I moved the wing forward about 1/2 inch. Now, it inverts & stays level trimmed. In normal flight when I throttle off, it noses up until it slows then noses down. A friend says I need down thrust (engine pointed downward). What do you think?

Final Build and Maiden Flight

James,

Thanks for building one of the best kits I have ever put together! The work you did made my work so much easier. Attached are a couple of pics of my finished SSX. It's built with lights to fly at night.

motor: 2217/7 250 watt
Prop: 10x4.7
ESC: 30 amp
Battery: 1300mah 3 cell
AUW: 22oz

Maiden flight part 1, pilot error, forgot to check control surface movement minor damage, broke motor mount, lost front wing saddle (P11).

Maiden flight part 2, happened last night at dusk. Once trimmed, she flew very nice. super soft landings. Had to add a lot of up trim. I think my P11 balsa replacement has the wing incidence off. James, I need a replacement for P11 or the right measurements to cut a new one.

I am looking forward to many night flights with my SSX.

Translucent Yellow Covering

Oh James

Do you know where O where I can get the Translucent Yellow Covering?

My 3+ year old Slow Stick-X really needs a re-cover job.

Let me know where and I bring the CASH!!

If you want to recover your SSX, I would do it with the new Ultracote park lite or ultracote lite. Ultracote lite would be the tranlucent yellow.

I talked to James a few weeks back and yes they will be at Perry this year. They are going to be at their original booth location NOT the location they had last year.

No, I just moved. Regrettably, I decided to skip Perry and SEFF this year. Just not enough time to get my shop put back together and prepare for the two events. I am going to shoot for the fall events.

We had to skip Perry this year as well. Plan to be at SEFF though.

Hi all,
Maiden flight of my SSX yesterday was wonderful! I don't have pics as of yet. For one, I was by myself, and two, I'm not very proud of my covering job. My first time at it and it didn't quite come out as planned. But that can be changed as I'm sure a crash will be future so when repairs are needed, I can update the covering.

She flew OK but I needed a lot of up elevator to fly level, even though she is balanced about 1" behind the wing spar. DO you gents think I should let her be a bit tail heavy with the COG for level flight or is there something else maybe going on? Other than that, I have throws dialed down on the ailerons and elevator as I'm a beginner. I still have full rudder throws in play. She was nice and docile and very comfortable to fly, other than needing up elevator as I said.
