ESky Lama v3 blades and upgrades?

After a crash outside in the driveway (it was a bit windy, and I was doing some "stupid things with it", my lama v3 crashed into the ground, thus damaging all 4 main blades. Surprisingly, that was all the damage.

So...I finally had the time to replace the main blades with the extra set that came with the heli, so I am up and running again.

Now, I would like to purchase another set of main blades to have on hand and my question is: Should I just purchase the stock replacement set, or are their other options out there that are better?

Also, since I am ordering some blades, what upgrade parts should I be considering? Any items to make the heli stronger?

The Xtreme unbreakable blades from miracle-mart are the only choice of blades for the Lama imo, I"m currently trying to find a way to get them on my CX2.

I have come to really like those Xtreme blades to be quite truthful about it. I was hesitant at first but am glad that I did purchase the blades.

On those two links that CCbusa05 offered you, those are both really good outfits to deal with. I have not had a problem yet with either of them.

The upgrades that I really like are the Xtreme blades, the Esky Aluminum Inner Shaft and the MicroHeli Aluminum Bearing Cup. You will find the Aluminum Bearing Cup in the BCX upgrade section as it is marketed for the BCX. Since the BCX and Lama have the same size outer shaft, this MicroHeli part will work on the Lama.

If you are talking about Miracle Mart, they are on holiday and their site is pretty much view only. Wait until the 22 of Feb and the Chinese New Year celebrations will be over.

I wonder how long the Chinese celebrate for the turn of the century. Must be one heck of a party.

I put my extreme blades on yesturday and I will also tell you to order them asap.
They sound good and I never flew so good.I am reall impressed and no Lama should go without these.Now I need to order a new tail.I glued it on yesturday after it broke off and now the tip of the new blade strikes it.

Ok...they are back from their WORLD PARTY! I wonder how many have hangovers!

Maybe that is why it will take 2 days to process the order! I orders a couple sets of the extreme blades, and the flex tail.

I am a totally new heli pilot and hate to appear dumb. I accomplished hovering my V3Lama and proceeded to fly about 20 feet outside when a slight breeze took me to the ground. The clip top of the inner shaft that holds the flybar broke. So I have ordered an up graded aluminum one. My problem is that I can not find where to loosen the inner shaft. I have studied the exploded view, but without a magnifying glass I can not find the set screw that holds it in!??! I worry about taking it totally apart in that I am afraid I will not be able to get it all back together. Can anyone help? Thanks! fantasy94 in Florida

On the bottom of the heli,at the center of the bottom gear is an aluminum collar with two screws it it.Remove these screws and put them on a piece of masking tape(so they can't escape). Remove the blade grips from the upper shaft,and pull the shaft straight up,and out. NOTE: There two flats on the shaft at the bottom where the screws tighten against. Also there are two holes in the gearhub that the screws have to go thru to bite into the shaft.MAKE SURE you get the new shaft installed properly.Pretty straight forward stuff.

I would recomend against the aluminum inner shaft. I don't know if it was my paticular aluminum center shaft or not but it allows to much travel on the fly bar. So much that the fly bar can tilt enough to get tangled in the lower blades. I had two very bad crashes because of this. The last one damaged the heli beyond repair.

My only tip for replacing the inner shaft- Put line across the end of your inner shaft with permanent marker so you know where the flats are for reassembly.

I just got my new Lama yesterday and ordered it with the xtreme blades. They are worth every cent. I tried to fly outside today in just a barely detectable breeze. I was able to hold it ina hover against the breeze for ~30 seconds. Then the breeze won and turned the heli on its side and into the ground it went. The blades made a nice WUMP-WUMP-WUMP noise as they hit the ground. The flybar popped out but zero damage. I wiped the dirt of the blades and they don't even have a nick.

I have the aluminum inner shat, lower rotor head and swashplate along with the extreme blades and a custom CF tail boom that I got the idea from someone here for. I love the aluminum parts. The only thing I can criticize is that the lower rotor head to swash link guides are a bit tight on the links and caused sluggish cyclic and elevator until I trimmed the links down a bit. I'm kicking myself now for not buying the aluminum blade grips but they're $46 for the four!! At $6 for four plastic ones at the LHS I can afford to lose a few ball links.

Edit: And the 180 degree bearing motors with heat sink are worth the buy as well, much more power and longer batt life.
