Wow! I haven't seen that profile in the sky since I was a child. We lived in NJ, directly across the Delaware River from New Castle AFB, Delaware, which hosted B-36 bombers with its 8,000 foot runway.
When the B-36 flew low over the area on its approach to land, everything rattled. The car, the house and you. I'll never forget seeing the Alumnum Overcast flying. You did a great job resurrecting the B-36's memory. Ed Cregger |

Aluminum Overcast was a B-17 (Still flying and giving rides! through the EAA).

------------- The name Aluminum Overcast has been used on many aircraft. In its day, the B-17 was a large airplane, but compared to a B-36, it was a pip-squeak. I've heard of B-52 bombers being referred to by that name too. It goes back a lot longer than the latest B-17 with the name. Ed Cregger |
