F/A-22 Raptor Park Jet

Here's a flight video of my new F/A-22 Raptor Park Jet. This model is powered by a Littlescreamers Park Jet Special motor and features a working thrust vectoring system. See build thread here:

The vector thrust makes for a very scale jet turn! Most impressive!

Another amazing build Steve!! The video is very well done also IMHO. This is the Super Park Jet that Scott and Bob hooked you up with, right? And this is the same plane that Colby is kitting now?

I sit here amazed at your proficiency in developing these great flying park Jets!

And the "landing" is most impressive!

AWESOME!

Steve, Hope you don't mind the stop action sequence but Man Oh Man, you are COOL! I love it!

(And I have a feeling that was your first attempt at that landing!)

That stop action sequence is great, Jon!! I had no idea the airplane was reaching that high an angle of attack until I saw this. It happens so quick that I didn't notice it when I edited the video. Thanks for the pics!

No, this is not the Super Park Jet motor--this is the regular Park Jet motor. At 18.5 oz AUW I have unlimited vertical (probably 1.2:1 thrust to weight) and as much speed as I want, so there's no need for the bigger motor. Everyone that's seen my F/A-22 in person has been utterly amazed that I'm getting this kind of performance from such a small motor. THANKS AGAIN to Bob and Scott for this fantastic little motor!

And yes, this is the same airplane 6mmflyrc is kitting. My model is a 6mmflyrc beta kit, even.

WOW! That was amazing! I took a break from building my F-22 to check the thread, I'm glad I did. What motivation to build even faster!
I can't wait!!!

WONDERFUL job Steve!

And good to hear the LSPJ is good for 20+ ounces of thrust. Can you confirm the prop you're using with it?

Glad you like it, Tom. I'm using an APC 6x4 prop, which pulls right at 20.0 amps static. So you gotta be real careful with the throttle on this one, both to protect the motor and the batteries (I'm using TP 1320 3s).

Funny enough, this same combo pulled only 15 amps on my T-38 but pulls 20 on the Raptor. The difference I believe is the wiring. The T-38 has about 20" of 18 gauge wire extensions, and the Raptor has about 7" of 18 ga and 10" of 16 ga. So the voltage drop on the T-38 by the long thin wires really robbed the motor of power! Lesson learned.

Thanks for the prop stats. I figured you were pushing things ... but I'll be doing the same with my own PJ.

And thanks for the feedback on the wire length. Balancing the weight penalty of a heavier wire gauge, versus the voltage drop if finer wire, versus equipment layout ... these are no small issues with pusher designs
