I bought the painted version and fly it with a TP 2409-18T brushless motor and GWS 25A ESC., JR receiver and servos, 3S-1650 lipos (8C). AUW is currently 20.6 oz
With this setup it flys Fastest with a GWS 9075 and Strongest with GWS1060. It flys quite well a GSW 9050 but needs full throttle most of the time so flight times are no better than the 1060 which can be flown easily at 1/2 throttle. The 9075 really rocks when you get the itch to fly FAST. Overall I tend to use the 1060 because it's strong and fast. Flight times of 12-15 minutes.

flight report

I have about four flights on mine now. The landings are very scale indeed, it noses over consistently when landed in a three point attitude with full aft stick in tall grass. Nice slow flight and predictable, will snap stall when inverted if you get too slow.

Good step up from a trainer.

Hi guys
here is my FW190, fresh from the airbrush . It has been fun to finish the model and I' m happy with the result... only the legs of the Robart retracts are too thin to be scale
A nice flyer indeed!

I dusted off the airbrush after several years and it's been a very rewarding experience. It's now flying with a HXT 35-30C on 3S 2500 Robbe lipos and
a three blade GWS 9x6, but that huge cowl masks a great part of the blades, so I'm now looking for a 10" or 11" prop...

I'm on my first GWS foam plane and read an earlier post that suggested using wire wool to sand the foam prior to painting. Whilst this worked a treat it has left the foam a dirty grey colour. Will this just wash off with a little dilute washing up liquid or will I have to use something stronger (which won't melt the foam)?
Any thought on glassing and adding carbon rods either side of the nose or other areas. I've bought the slope soarer version without uc as plan to fly at my local park where the grass is usually too long for uc. The cowl looks flimsy and I might try to find a container to line it - tuppaware anybody? Has anybody had success in this area? Finally, would you suggest a light sand for the cowl to provide better key for the paint?

I've used steel wool to smooth out the surface on several foamies. Yes, you can wash the foam to clean it up after sanding. If you want to really smooth the surface, you might try a layer of water based polyurethane mixed with talc/baby powder. It fills in the pores and when you buff it out with really fine emery paper or steel wool, it makes a great finish. Also-buffing the cowl with steel wool makes the paint stick better.

My cowl is one of the original and has it's share of beating. I would lightly line the inside of a new one with epoxy and glass cloth.

Great shot, el_luz! If not for the antenna, it could be the real one!
After a few flight, I've added a bomb/tank release mechanism to my FW: it works very well. the bomb itself is made of soft foam and has a vacuformed nose filled with talc powder: a real challenge to put the bomb on the spot

Now finished construction and shortly ready for maiden.
United Hobbies TR 28-30B 14A 1050Kv Brushless Outrunner
motor puting out 150 watts @ 15.5 amps on 3 cell lipo using 9x6 prop. Already pulled out wing mounting from fuse so looks like I'll have to beef up with some light ply. Here are some shots before I crash it!
