Maiden was this morning and I am impressed!!! First off it was about 25 degrees out when I flew this morning so it was a very quick flight. Luckily there was some frozen snow to take off from so I had a nice and smooth runway. Takeoff was pretty eventful. I needed 1 click of rudder and 4 clicks or aileron to settle her out with a slightly rearward CG. It kept me busy for a minute or so but nothing I couldn't handle.

After getting her trimmed out I noticed I had too much elevator throw and I would like to up the aileron throw a little but overall the controls were great.

Flying characteristics were very very impressive. The plane was very stable and even under very slow flying conditions the plane had ZERO bad tendencies. Honestly GWS did a WONDERFUL job with this plane. I absolutely love it!!!!!

maiden equipment:
Loong-max 3s 1800mah 15C
Suppo 2217/09 1000KV
Suppo 40Amp ESC
APC E 9x9

Spinner: spinner cap is from parkzone fw.
I took 2mm ply circle and sanded it near to right diameter using lathe (dremel) Then I glued a piece of blue foam onto it. After glueing I used dremel again and sanded the whole piece to the right diameter. Then I used light glassfibre and rolled it around the piece I made like toilet paper.. maybe 3-4 times and added 30min epoxy diluted with alcohol between each layer. I added baby powder into the epoxy mix and topped the whole thing with that crap.

24 h later I cut the piece into exact lenght and used lathe (dremel again) to sand it smooth. Then I removed almost all blue foam from inside to make room for 8b sized hub. Then I made 3 holes 120 degrees interval to accommodate blades. The I added one balsa disc which diameter was 2mm less than spinner base on the top of spinner base so that way the spinner cap would be aligned with it.

Spinner cap is held in place with a one screw on the top of the spinner, connecting with 8b hub.

I hope you catch the idea..
Ceeray,
Didnt shortening your cowl reduce the nose weight?
how do you get around this? or does it balance w/o it?
or did you add weight to the nose...
I commented on this earlier but was being ignored, just curious....

To shorten the cowl on my 190 I used a 105 gram motor. I later decided that the battery compartment is above the CG and that you might be able to balance the plane by enlarging the compartment so the battery can be pushed more towards the tail.

I also mount my ESC next to the motor and made a ply plate for a motor mount. Every little bit of weight matters.

Just like WWII

So there I was - warming up and minding my own business. A big 3-D style plane is doing it's thing and was departing the area. Charlie got a little close to me, bumps my tail and we heard the "thunk" sound balsa over Monokote makes. Neither plane really faltered, just kind of "oops!" and remarked that we should not be trading paint like NASCAR. I flew out the remainder of my pack, no problem. I noted that I was a bit sluggish on landing, had to do a missed approach. When I did land, we noticed (shock - horror ) that 45% of the elevator and about 10% of the h-stab was missing. We didn't even notice the chunks floating down. The recovery crew did find all the bits and when I reconstructed the parts on the ground, you can cleanly see where the prop chopped it off.

took the FW-190 up for her second flight today. I reduced the elevator throw increased the aileron to 140% and added -40% expo. The result was absolute heaven. She flew wonderful and is by far the best flying warbird I have ever owned. Thanks again GWS for doing such an excellent job on this model

I'm sure some of us has tried a TP 2409-12, or 2409-18 in a 190.

how did it perform, and what battery capacities worked well. My twins have a

birthday coming up and they want pylon racers. I thought identical combos

would keep all our planes on a level flaying field.

Any thoughts on this or other inexpensive, but suitable motors would be

great.
Thanks Shawn

Hi, I've been out of the R/C scene for a couple of years and glad to see GWS has these larger planes finally out. Looks like I'll be ordering a Fw this afternoon.

I can;t wait !
