Saito 91 vs Saito 100

Bought H9 Sopwith Camel/Saito 100. Then got deal on Saito 91. Have H9 Spitfire on order. Is there REALLY enough difference in these 2 engines to take effort to change the 91 into the Camel and have the 100 for the Spit??? Also is it a straight swap without leaving holes in cowl of Camel?? THese are my first 4 strokes so I appreciate any knowledable advice on this. THANKS RACJ

I have had 3 100s and 1 91.. There is a big difference but I would not worry about it with a Camel. You should be fine. I noticed in my Ultra Stick that the 91 would barley pull a 15 x 4 W . The 100 pulls it like there is no tomorrow.. I would say run a 14 X 6 prop for the Camel and I would try to get a Pro Zinger. They are NICE!!

Thanks powerlines I just bought the DS821 servos from you. I was asking if the 100 would be better used in the Spitfire and change the 91 to the Camel. Camel was only rated to 91 but previous owner put 100 in it. What prop for the 100 in H9 Spitfire?? THANKS,RACJ

The 100 would be fine in either I think.. If I were running the 100 in the spitfire I would go with the same prop.. the 14 x 6 Pro Zinger.. They work like a champ on the 100..

The correct prop for a Saito 100 is either a 15x6 or 14x8.

Given that a Sopwith Camel is a fairly slow-flier with a lot of drag, something like a 14x6 or 15x4W might even be better if less than 15% nitro is used.

I use a 15x4W on my 3D profile ship and it is *perfect* with 10% nitro.

A 15x6 or 14x8 loads my SA100 down too much unless I hike the nitro percentage ($$$ in these parts).

The Saito 91 and 100 have different mounting bolt pattern and the 100 is slightly larger overall. I have found the 15x6 APC to be the best on the 100 for all around flying, useing 15%] and the 16x4 on my U-C-Do. No difference in fuel used the way I fly. I like the 14x6 APC on the 91 and the 14x6 MAS Simitar wood looks just like the WWI style props. If it were me I'd go with the 91 in the Camel and the 100 in the Spit.
The 100's I use will pull a lot more than 10,000 rpm with a 14x6 and that's faster than I'll run mine.
