That's very cool, but I want to see a vertical landing too!

I don't know the name of the plane.....I'll have to email the designer and see what he calls it.

Here's another neat one...http://www.rcepi.com/avi/Electro-Disk_01.avi

Nice.

I'm curious to the specs - weight/power plant/battery etc.

Hoppy said it was powered by an Astro 05 in the other thread he started about this plane.

The page on rcepi.com about the Electro-Delta says it's for 280/400 but I think it's pretty clear from the video that it's being powered by a brushless (or it's very light and has something like a 480?)

I have a feeling that if I stood my brushless Switchback on it's tail that with a freshly charged pack I might be able to get it to perform a vertical take off too. Umm... I wonder...

Go for it Cliff!
Make sure to get a vid.

That plane does look promising.

The other thread refered to another plane.....these I believe are 400 powered and made from fanfold. Hammer Head found the URL and names of the planes. I liked that almost LEM like touchdown and the takeoffs from the tail down position.

If you go to the site, check the "links" under 'navigation menu'....lots of neat places and things to look at.

Cliff,
Be sure and get a video of the switchback vertical take off!
Which brushless motor did you go with? Seems that 3 of them are pretty popular....I'm leaning towards the mini 1216 or the Hacker B20 15 with the 4:1. And what batteries are you using?

I'm afraid my only digital video capability is the Aiptek Mini PenCam but I guess it'll work - I'll take the wife along and see if she can capture this prank in action! Unfortunately she's out of the country until next Wednesday so it's going to have to wait until then (though I may try the experiment on my own before then - I think if I stick a couple of bamboo skewers into the ground I should be able to make a "launch pad" to hold it vertical before "take off"

Hoppy,

I considered the Hacker, the MiniAC and the Mega, spent ages researching it (including reading the ENTIRE "Throw away your 400 motor" thread!!) and in the end I went with the Mega 16/15/6 and an 8" Vario-prop direct drive. I liked the idea of not needing to use a gearbox as I would have had to do with the other two motors. I'm definitely not disappointed (I'm going along to a 95% I/C club to join up tomorrow and I have a feeling that this electric brushless SB may make them more than a little surprised!!). I use seven cell 600AE's by the way (cos I happened to have five packs)
