Happy Hunter Tug

hi all.
Has anyone on here made the Happy Hunter Tug kit by Robbe.

It looks like a really nice kit. although a bit pricy, but looks great. Would love to see some pics of people who have built the kit. Thanks,

James

Happy Hunter

Here's some pictures of one my friend Warren Wilson built. He has it all decked out and fully lit. Sorry, I dont know anything more specific about its running gear or power. A very nice boat.

I saw the kit in the LHS 30yrs. ago, and have wanted one since. Yes, boats and fires do not mix well

The only reason you don't find much on this boat as a model, is that the kit was discontinued and unavailable up until it was re-released last year.

We are waiting for builders, and a build up.

What a beautiful tug boat. Looks great in yellow. Nice lines to it. I don't mind spending alot of money for top of the line stuff, but this tug is made of plastic and not fiberglass. It is WAY overpriced in my opinion. If it were made out of a better material and was more reasonably priced, I would be all over it.

$600.00 U.S. dollars for the hull set.
$150.00 U.S. for the fittings set.
$100.00 U.S. for the motor set.

Additional $ money for the speed controls, radio and any other optional equipment you may want such as the optional bow thruster, or lighting, sound modules, etc.

And it is still a plastic boat.

Like so many other things in life; beautiful, but not worth it!

the kick in the nuts is that these were the same prices 10 years ago

Plastic, yes, but a very nice kit.

I prefer fiberglass, and would never consider a plastic kit, especially at that price, but it's been around for a very long time. I have a friend in the Toronto club who has had one for about 25 years or so.

Many of the modelers on this forum were toddlers when this kit was new---.
