in all I wish I would have never picked up a Trex...the amount of money I have spent getting it to fly right I could have bought and SA for everyday of the week...

Now for a serious answer from me re the Dragon V Trex.
First some history.
I have had trexi since the very first batch released. Along with Tom Viper and Danks i recall having among the first flying here on the forum. I now have 3 flying blinged machines (SE included). They are all decent flying helicopters that have had literally thousands spent to get there.

I didnt mind at the time as it was all the fun of the game. The new kits from Align may have improved to the stage where thay can be built and flown out of the box but that was not always the case.

The Dragon SA i bought was a diversion for me, just something to try. I picked it up on release at the $99US they were selling for. Hopes were not high at such a low price but i thought it was worth a try.
It turned ou tot be the bargain of the year. A completly stock base kit that flys as well as any of my mini helis at a much lower price. Mine has no bling so its not the prettiest heli around but it just works. From my limited experience with E helis it is the kit to choose. Low prices make crashing much easier to swallow and it just works so well. When the elite and pro enter the equation i am not so certain which way to go but as a cheap banger the SA is the real deal.

Geez, sorry I took it that one extra step! Not a word more.

I bought two Intruder kits for $99 when they were on sell. Great value,
and at 119 to 129 I still think its hard to beat. Plus was a fun build.
With that said after doing the chicken dance this morning. I will be upgrading
to a CF frame. (trying to learn invert)

that's the original argument bar none...to get a trex to fly out of the box was darn near impossible. I can remember many posts about links hitting things plastic parts breaking, all kinds of problems. Even the SE that was the be fully upgraded has gone through it looks like 3 versions. The tail has been changed more times than my sons diaper and for goodness sakes, make a canopy that actually fits the heli without hitting anything. The one thing Align did was pony up to the bar and fix the problem parts as quickly as possible and on the T600 they even fixed things before we knew there was a problem.

the Dragonous Elite on the other hand, went trouble free throughout the build and and worked right out of the box and still works after all my abuse.

You mean it's not normal to buy a heli (trex) then upgrade it spending many hundreds of dollars (chasing the latest upgraded upgrade) to make it fly? My 1000$ rex flys great

which was released way earlier? which released when there was a current product out there that could be modified and tweaked in some ways to make it the best flying around. you know, changing a product, and getting everybody like your vendors and your customers takes a long time.

I've had 6 trexs over the past year...all were blinged to the latest upgrades avail. at the time...All were sold except the one I have now, because I was tired of the frustration....if I were to do the math at 490 for a SE X 5 that's 2450.00 not including all the other stuff I changed along the way as new part came out, plus the time and effort getting it to fly right. I could have had 6 elites for that price or 1 elite and a MA razor 600E with enough left over for electronics and lipos for both. Damm that makes me mad....

Don't get me wrong thermlin' it's all in fun

I would NEVER put down the Rex anywhere else on this forum, this is just for fun. Also my rex it tight and I put the extra into it because I wanted to, not for need. It is an awsome little helli and I would recomend it any day

im just saying you absolutely MUST keep in mind how hard it is to be a pioneer like that. im sure A LOT of testing and development went into making the first rexes, and even so theres obviously going to be problems, being the first ones out. obviously you cant take a year to just keep testing and testing and testing a new product like that. you put one out, let people see what they think, let them find the problems, and fix it for them. its much easier, and way more practical than having 20 or 30 test pilots fly one for a year or so.

having a customer as your test pilot is no way to get the ball rolling. these things are dangerous and to put somethingout there that could do harm is a very bad thing...I personally have had a tail grip hit me square in the chest because the bolt snaped. The whole "you can take and eye out" thing really hit home that day. Sorry to shoot you down but being a test pilot should be left up to the guys getting paid not the guys paying for it.

I'll agree with that. A 3000rpm carbon projectile is no fun.

You have heard: location, location, location.

On vacation the little lady will let me spend money at other hobby shops.

I had a mark on my chest for two weeks.. it actually made me bleed my blood without making a cut it hit so hard. I've also had a blade grip fly off, ball link ends pop off, links bend, tail rods break, o-rings fail, tail belts snap, swash seperate, motor De-can, ESC fry and one lipo fall into the main blade bursting into flames. Lots of little things. Now I go through my heli very carful before flight...
