I've got a Revo CP w/ belt tail. Before a recent crash, gain was set to 90 with no wag, now I can only set it to 40.

Gyro: 401
Replace plastic head parts, boom, feathering shaft, main shaft.

Seems to run vibration free

Here's the strange part. If I set the HH gain to 60, it wags like crazy, so I reduce it to 30 or 40 and I'm okay, then 2 minutes into flight I can then set it to 60 or 65 without wag. I checked that the belt wasn't too tight, I checked the servo linkage, and tial for drag, etc.

What gets me is that it gets better in a few minutes. Could the servo have something wrong with it itself?

Any ideas???

hey david you might want to check your headspeed. Headspeed does have some relevence to your problem. hmmm i totally read past the "due to recent crash part" hmmm check your tail setup again david make sure there is no binding and everything is oiled properly.

Thanks Tim. Yeh, I did try varying the head speed to see if it would help, but it really didn't affect the wag. I've gone through it again this evening, checking everything for binding. No luck...

But, what's that you say about oiling? I've always been hesitant to oil as it might atract dirt, that would act as a sandpaper, grinding on the parts. Do you recommend that I apply oil (to the tail shaft I assume)?

i believe people use a special type of oil just for the tail pitch slider. i forgot what its called though.

Weekdays are usually tough for me (basic 8-5 job), but thanks for the offer for help; I really appreciate it. I'l try remounting the gyro and oiling the pitch slider and see what happens. Can you tell me what you typically have your GY401 gain set at on you SE?

on my SE my gyro gain is at 40 in normal mode and 36 in idle up. This is in heading hold ofcourse.

Thanks Tim. Maybe I am just stubornly trying to get a gain higher than I need. Only reason I think I wanted to get to 80 or 90 was because that's what it was before the crash. The tail seems to hold fine at 40!

yeah with this hobby you just have to just TRY it out. for me most of my setup is just trial and error. if it doesnt work try something else. Im glad it worked.
