Know anything about this S&W 22 ?

I've inherited a S&W 22 revolver that I want to sell. Can anybody tell me what it may be worth ? It's looks to be in excellent shape.

One side just says " Smith & Wesson" The other side says "22 long rifle ctg" and "made in u.s.a. springfield, mass." and there's an s&w logo. On the handle bottom is a #: "k 103999". It appears to have a 6" barrel and looks very similar to the pic below Though it looks more blue than black.

The "k" on the serial number makes it a "K Frame"

K22, Known as the Model 17 after 1957
I count 4 screws on your frame
Means it's an earlier model.
Serial number indicates it may have been made prior to 1951,
and after 1947.
Front sight post is round, earlier mfg.
Get a factory letter on your pistol, contact: Smith & Wesson Historian, Smith & Wesson Research, P.O. Box 2208, Springfield, MA 01102

I think the pictured gun is a kit gun, looks like a 4" barrel, on a small frame (I or J); if I'm reading the post correctly it isn't the actual gun that Mike has.
Condition will affect the value along with rarity, but its likely worth $300- or more.

Thanks guys!

Your replies are heartening. Esp. the one to write to the S&W Historian. My Dad probably bought it new around 1950. BTW He also has a 43 DUO 25 cal.
