That is a cool airplane! Great site also. However...

can someone help me now with a similar request?

IL-76 Candid (with cross-sections would be fantastic)

Thanks

Hi Hawker,

Unfortunatly, I didn't find an interesting 3 views. Just a link to have an idea

Try this link and choose IL-76 in the left side of the page:

Well Hawker,

For this plane, it seems to be the same small 3 views everywhere. There are a lot of pictures but I found no real plan.

One last link but nothing special: http://www.atlas.spaceports.com/~leajet/il-76.htm

Hope you will have a better chance...

If you ever get to Germany there is an AN 22 in the museum grounds at Speyer. I have been inside this aircraft many times and it is AWESOME !

The museum has a great video you can buy on how they flew the aircraft over from Russia. The landing at the Speyer airfield - which usually accomodates Cessna 172's and the like - is stunning.

If you battle through the list Speyer - Museum Speyer - Exhibits - Antonov you will see some nice landing shots : http://www.technik-museum.de/endex.html

They also sell a 1/72nd model you can make up from paper, but I just wouldn't have the patience.

FLB,

Thanks for the help.

So, does anyone know if such a plan exists? (IL-76 3-view - large or at least medium sized, with cross-sections?)

Hi Hawker,

There is always the Bob Banka solution for a low cost:

http://www.bobsairdoc.com/3viewcatalog.pdf

page 24 of 52 (left side): IL-76 heavy transport 4 engines jet

If you are more patient than me, maybe you can find a good plan through this list of specialized links... That's my source

Regards

I may have to order from Bob. I'll know soon. I really need cross sections but as a last resort I might buy a model and cut it up for this purpose.

Cross Sections or Poor Mans Pantograph

One way to get X-sections from a plastic model without chopping it up is to take thin soft solder wire and gently wrap it around the half fuselage at the points where you want the sections. It make take some practice and fiddling , but it's do-able.

Once you get the sections, scale them and the 3-view up to the point you want. If you want to get real close, make a "half hull" fuselage model on a flat board (just like the old ship model days!), with foam blocks between the bulkheads. Contour the foam until it looks good to you, and your'e just about there.

Paper models generally have some form of bulkheads also.

Cheap is good.

Hi Hawker,

I made a mistake in one of my message. I didn't gave the link to my favorite website for plans and 3 views. Here is it:

http://www.simviation.com/3viewand.htm

I don't understand cirillyc (?). But if you are patient and with chance you will certainly find aomething interessant. Most of the sites are russian...

Regards

Frederic
