Changing DC to AC then back to DC sounds wasteful to me. You could just use
3 small 12V batteries in series with your current limiter. But one of the
joys of eflight is all the creative solutions that people are free to
design. How many times have you seen someone machine their own .40 cubic
inch glow engine?
