Pilot figures???

Does anyone know a source for good pilot figures in smaller sizes, say 1/10 or so?

I'm looking for a '30s era race pilot, but it seems most are either too big, too small, too far off the mark looks-wise (A lot of WW2 and jet pilots w/masks) or just too goofy looking! I'd prefer to paint it myself and don't mind modifying something if it's close.

I've done a few searches but I'm having trouble finding any in that size. This is my last try before trying to carve one myself!

Thanks guys!

Cheers,

Mike

Hobby Lobby has some good, cheap, and light prepainted pilots.

I just put one of their 1/10 scale "Jack" figures in my Great Planes Fokker DVII and I think it looks great.

Why waste your time searching?

I start with a thin ply centre profile, then add balsa both sides, + epoxy putty, + copper wire.

I envy those of you who can paint a realistic looking pilot and even more those who carve your own! Nice work.

Wow, thanks for all the guidance gents! Those are several sources that I hadn't found in my searches. Best of all it seems that there are a few to choose in the size I need.

Very nice work Peterangus! I have carved my own pilots in the past, but was feeling a bit lazy and just didn't want to take the time for this particular project. I must say though that cutting the thin ply profile to start is brilliant. I usually just draw the profile on the block and start hacking away. I will use your method next time!

Cheers!
