If you buy cheap gear and it fails, you'll have to buy a new plane as well as new gear. Where's the savings?

At the least, save up and get GWS's radio gear. It's some of the least expensive around anyway, but I've bought a ton and it all works when it's used appropriately.

Wrangler, the TM 400 is a 4 channel plane. Not sure I would recommend it after your first experience. You can spend as much or as little as you want, but if you continue on with RC flying, having equipment the will move up with your next plane(s) is cost effective. There are a lot of RTF pkgs. out there that use cheap components and they fly well. I think you would be better served to start with an Easystar RTF, apparently they are very durable and easy to fly. It is a pusher prop so, breaking props. is one less thing to worry about. Shop a bit and you can find one on sale for a bit over $150. It is a complete kit.
And don't forget to use the $15 off coupon.
