Santa Just ordered a Wing mfg Pro Series B25 for me for X-mas. I've seen the Art Astlin photos, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this kit, and any pointers. She'll be my sixth twin and my second B25. The Royal B25 was my first, and if she flys anything like her, I can't wait to get her in the air!

Hi did complete the P-38 and she flew great. Can't give you any hints as to the build but was quite alot of work. Had to cut out all the balsa parts from the plans. I did make a copy of the plans before I started so I could cut out the the balsa pieces from the copy. Worked out fine. other than that lot's of sanding. I covered ir with monocote in the Lefty Gardners Theme.

I had a P-38 , Wing makes very nice kit , but they don't call it short for nothing , I would order the wood pack from them also unless you have a very good supply

The pro series is a full up kit from my understanding. I only have P-38 experience too but a guy in the club built the B-25. He said the build was pretty straight forward for any builder, wasnt any big problems. He used 4-stroke .70's and what a nice sound. Also said it was more than enough power. Each gear door used its own mini-servo. It was the most difficult part according to him. He glassed and painted it. Dont know the weight but he said it was pretty close to the specs. I loved watching the plane fly. It lasted a couple years before it went in due to an engine out.

Four stroke .70's huh? I was thinking about two stroke OS.91's. ......

Suppose I should mention the guy was in his 70's. So his "more than enough power" might be just right for me. The more I think about it, maybe some 4-stroke .90's would have worked better in the engine out. I've only heard hear-say, but its been said that a B-25 is almost as bad as a P-38 in an engine out. I didnt see it go down so its just speculation.

Well, upon unwraping and initial inspection, I dug right in. There's alot of stuff crammed in that box. Can't wait to fly her.....Got alot of work to do, lets get started. I'll continue to post progress on the build if anyone's interested......Lemme know.

I've wanted this kit since it first came out, but being a twin, I've been hesitant.

I think you will be very happy with this 25. Wing is a great place to deal with and the kit is well designed and a proven flyer.
I too am happy to see a build going on. I'm sick to death with all the ARF stuff.

I would think 4 stroke 70s would fly it nice, maybe 80s would be a bit better, but I think 90s would be a bit much. One of the main reasons for twin engine crashes are planes being overpowered. You loose one engine and the other overpowers the controls and they spin in.
As for the 25 vs the 38, I would have to say the 25 is a bit better, not by much, but in a dead engine event the 25 would be a bit easier to save IMHO.

I havent done a foam wing in a few years, so I'm not sure what method is the best for glueing. I tried the guerilla glue, but I really dont like the foaming. So, I'm waiting for some Dave Browns "southern sorghum" and I'm also going to look for the 3M styrofoam compatable spray. Meanwhile, the foam cores are prepped, and the inner panel sheeting is ready for application.

I like the sorghum. In fact, I used some today.

Glad to see that you are starting the B 25. Keep the pics coming.

Kits usually start as a box of wood. Anyhoo, she'll have a 84" wingspan. And I'm not sure yet how I'll paint her yet. Got a long way to go yet. I hope to get the wing completely sheeted this weekend and get started on the stab. Will post pics when enough progress has been made.

Painting is a lot of work. I'm in the middle of priming my Stuka. Been sanding and filling all week. LOL

A model as nice as the Wing B-25 desrves to be glassed and painted. Years ago, I saw the prototype and it was gorgeous.
