Always thought that this would make a nice model but why is it in "Waterplanes"?

Henri Potez was very active in flying boats. He bought out the CAMS company which then became Potez CAMS. In the late 30s he built a giant flying boat, the Potez CAMS 161, to compete for a Pan Am contract. The Germans seized the prototype, but it was ultimately destroyed by allied bombers. Potez himself refused to collaborate.

In the late 30s he used a personal flying boat to commute from Paris to his villa on the Mediterranean. The villa still exists, and is now part of national park in Rayol-Canadel. You can hike down to the beach and see where Henri must have moored his air yacht.

Flying Models published a construction article and plans for the CAMs Potez 161 flying boat, designed for foam construction by Laddie Mikulasko. A beautiful plane.

Also, before the buyout there were some fast CAMS flying boats that competed in the Schneider races in the 1920s.

Anyway, Henri Potez was deep in the business of flying boats and hydroplane design -- fascinating guy with a lot of style.

Many thanks. The .pdf on CAMS is very interesting, and the color illustration of the CAMs 53, I find, makes excellent wallpaper! Merci bien, à bientôt. Michael
