$99 for three wings instead of $89 for two seems more than reasonable.

Where else could you buy a fully finished wing for $10?

If you go by square inches, it works out less
Three wings, but shorter wings and cord.

SE5A 34 in 420 sq in
Fok DVII 36 in 360 sq in
Fok DrI 29.5 300 sq in

Something does not add up right
Re Check the balance at 2.125 in
Either the equipment in front of the CG is lighter than what others used..
Or Assembly or equipment past the CG is heavier than what others used.

GP Is releasing the Fokker DrI triplane in late ApriI. It will be $10 more than the SE5A and the Fokker DVII
Cool! This one has been done a bit much, but cool anyway... I'd like to see a DVIII or other less modelled one..

You and me both.....

I want the DVIII in a bad way.....

On CG - mine balanced with no weight. I have my RX all the way forward and have no added weight for CG. I used light duty servo wiring too.

I think you may be adding more with the matte finish than you think...

I have built a couple of these and both balanced with no added lead. The flat finish aft of the CG is probably the culprit. Every gram on the tailk equals 4-5 in the nose. Try scrubbing the monocote with a green Scotch Brite pad as that dulls it down and leaves a nice semi-matt finish.

Finished mine up with the exception of more scale details on the engine and fuselage. I am not happy with how the gun belt feeds turned out, but will be reworking those to get them to look even soon. I really like the gun kits though. They turned out very nice. I used the Liquitex varnish technique, which also turned out very nice.

Setup:

AXI 2212/26 w/ 10x6 GWS HD prop
Phx 25 ESC
1500 Mah 3S battery
4 - HS-55 servos
Berg 5 Rx
2 - WrightbrothersRC Spandaus

AUW - approx. 23.5 ounces

I have not maidened this one yet as it is to windy here in the early spring. The antenna is wrapped around a plastic straw inside the fuselage. It has always worked well with my Bergs. It's a good way to keep the scale look without the dangling antenna (for those of us that have not converted to 2.4 ghz yet)

Here are a few pictures as it stands right now.

Thanks Mike. I am really impressed with this line of planes. I think Great Planes did a fantastic job on them.

I really hope they continue to add to the WWI line. It's a segment that has always fascinated me.

I forgot to add a picture of the fuselage lettering. I'll do that later. Thanks to Kurt at AerodromeRC for resizing it for me to scale of this bird.

Here is a picture of the lettering on the fuse. It was printed on Testors water slide decal paper. I know it is blurry, but hopefully illustrates the point.

Thanks for the info. I will try and balance the plane again. Are you guys balancing at the recommended CG or 2 1/4" back from the LE of the top wing? Like I said I installed all the recommended gear, Electrifly rimfire C28-30-950 motor, Electrifly 25 amp ESC, 4 Hitec 55 servos, TP 1320 mah pack, the extensions and y-harness I used were kinda big and I used a JR sport RS600 reciever. Maybe I added a little to much liquitex on the tail. I still think the plane will do just fine at 27oz. Great planes shows the plane at 25.7oz so I am not to far off.

Great pictures... Is there anywhere you can get the instrument decals?
I found that for me I move the cg back as far as I can. It helps to be able to slow down your approach. I too had to add weight to the nose, I am have my cg at 2 3/8 to 2 1/4 back, Be careful and not move it back too far. Its a bear to fly if you do. I am getting better a landings but still working on them. Love this plane .. get a lot of comments at my flying club..

P-49,
Could you measure the lettering for me ? Height, length.
