Moulded Wing, or Foam Core...Which Do You Prefer?

A friend of mine recently asked me what type of wing I prefer in my DLGs.
I had no answer. At least nothing that wasn't a guess.

Perhaps this thread will help.
Thanks!

I think that molded wing is more accurate and weigh less, but it's a lot harder to fix when you have a dent or a hole in your wing.
I think that both wings are strong enough but IMHO molded wing is better.

Thanks for the reply Kalim3ro.

I wonder if it's possible to make the same airfoil either way....Or, if moulded wings are somehow restricted in the amount of airfoils that can be squeesed into one wing?

I'm sure that you can make a wing mold with mixed airfoils, if you have the money to make the mold with cnc. (=

I'm building a Kennedy Blaster, which is the only molded wing DLG I'm aware of. The rest are bagged. I'll let you know what I think after I fly it, but for my $$$, the molded wing looks and feels better.

There are plenty of molded winged DLG's, but they are mostly flown/manufactured in Europe. American designers/manufacturers tend to prefer using bagged wing designs.

I have flown both styles. The moldies have more accurate wings and elliptical planforms, their straight and level performance and launch height is slightly better than the bagged models.. however some bagged wings are made with amazingly light tips and this means the handle much better when working light lift. The TabooGT in particular is the nicest handling model I've ever flown.

Some other very popular molded models are :-

Fireworks III
Kisal
Turbo
Aspirin
Higlight/Radina/Enigma (depending on which country your in)

For flying I prefer mouldies. For repair I prefer bagged...So I have to say mouldies, nowing that I should not crash.

Here is a good sum up on some of the gliders out there!
