It's 300 size, 24mm, I think? I'm planning to use a 4000kv outrunner.

Which out-runner do you reccommend that will fit this 24.3mm, and with a reasonable current draw?

I will need to check with RD or may be they are doing the testing on this matter.

But if you use our inrunner - it flies like a rocket.

I'll be winding my own because I have kits waiting on my workbench for the purpose-- but Any of the 300 size outrunners with a Kv value near 3900 will provide similar flight performace to the one in the video, and I wouldn't know enough to be able to reccomend them over the GWS inrunner.

Besides, using the GWS 3900 inrunner you know it takes about 26A of current, and that's plenty reasonable. We won't know the outrunner currents until someone installs one and tests it, which for me is a few days after one of the early-storm-birds shows up at my house!

Actually, I do not mind using the GWS inrunner. Just that I hope GWS is willing to supply them at the same time for the early birds.

I have waited for this plane to have a ducted fan powered plane. It is so nice to have that wait coming to an end and in the mean time my new GWS-38 to fly and videotape this weekend. It feels like Christmas and Turkey day is still three weeks away. Mike

Many of us choose GWS because it doesn't take a HUGE expensive Lipo, or HUGE expensive motors to fly them. With the bigger size... many of us will be forced to spend too much money (that we don't have) on getting larger RC electronics.

AMEN to this! GWS.... are you listening? Not everyone wants models as big as the Formosa II or larger. I was waiting for the P-40 to show up, but if it's in the larger class of the Formosa II, I won't consider it.

I've been told by boss that the first version of P-40 would be Formosa I size, slightly bigger than GWS P-51D or Spitfire.

If that's true Chen, then I'll be buying some. That is still a good size.

Just please try not to make the models too large. The cost of everything from electronics, to batteries, to shipping goes up almost exponentially after a certain point in size.



I have to say though, I am completely impressed with GWS's awakening with new models being pumped out for us. I love it

Got my email from Joyce today to ask if I wanted one.

Hate to do it, but I think I'm going to bow out on getting this one early. I'll live vicariously through you other early birders as you build yours.

I have a few reservations about this one. Especially concerning the weight, and what it is going to end up costing to get decent performance. I also want to know if this bird can be belly landed with those nacelles hanging down? I can't handle the thought of the landing gear hanging down all the time on this one as I'd be flying it.

Best of luck with all of you that do get it. I hope you can get this bird dialed in nicely, so others like me can build one and get it right later on.

I'm with you Chris. I got my offer from Joyce a few minutes ago. I have the GWS38 (still haven't maidened it yet - darn work!). The thought of basically doubling the cost due to shipping was a one time splurge with the -38. I suppose I'll bide my time and wait this one out. When my GWS A-10 is fried out, I'll replace it with the -262 (or not). I do wish the GWS Earlybird program came at some sort of discount vs. just being the first to own at a shipping premium.
