Engine Identification Part 1

I have inherited this engine and I have no idea what it is.
Can anyone help?
It says Eisfeld on the cylinder.

The engine on the pics has a spark plug. Diesel engines have a screw on top to adjust the compression.

Ivan,

Are you sure that's a glow plug? My fisrt thought on seeing the picture was that this was an old spark ignition engine, which would fit with the whole 'look'.

Thanks, Matthew, I really meant spark plug but my fingers typed glowplug instead - I guess they are more used to glow.
