It'll be interesting to see what you come up with ,,,,,,,Nick
The last 1 I plowed into the ground had 2 ball links(I know how you love them)the fuse broke infront of the tail, broke both servo armes off up in the servo tray, broke both push rods in 1/2 and what was left of the push rods were still attached to the tail by the 2 ball links,,,,,I love ball links.lol,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Nick

Heavy duty ball links

Well, I tried and tried and as probably all of you know a Ball link is pretty much necessary to get a V-tail working properly. So, I got rid of the little junk wires and crappy ball links and found some heavy duty ball links. These do not come apart but rather bolt down. I made some aluminum horns and it all works great and is more stout than the stock setup. Now I will take it all apart, make two brand new aluminum horns and get two matching links and cut down the screws and make it all pretty. Ill post more pics when I finish it all up.

Nice Joe, thats pretty clever...Yeah, the way they did the stock wires in the ruddervators kinda sucks...the wires arent keyed-in to the ruddervators and the epoxy/cabosil fillit could easily crack and let go of the wire under flight loads and you'd basically have a ruddervator just flying freely. Not to mention the stock plastic ball link clevises fit the ball all sloppy and pop off super easy. Definitely a smart mod for fast DS.

Production has started!

I made a few sets. I only had enough material to make three sets. Someone ordered two sets. I made sure that they were all exactly the same. Three lefts and three rights. I will clean up the holes a bit and rough up the area that goes inside the control surfaces. Ill be using a resin/chopped glass mix and syringe the mixture around the horns after I get them set with a little ca.

These type of plastic ball link connectors are the one's I'm trying to stay away from,,They can slip through or off possibly,,well they seem to pop on and off to easy for me ,though they have worked fine for me with no trouble so far,,maybe I'm paranoid,,lolthe duo bro ball links seem more secure,,but I'm going to look at some pattern hellicopter link's to see what I can come up with,,,,,Nick

I spent an hour today looking at various ball links including heli stuff and the ones I picked seemed to be the most secure to me. Im not sure they come apart. Whenever the ball links got more heavy duty they just got bigger. Too big to use.

NOW you're talking!
All this time reading this thread I bit my tongue thinking "that's a lot of effort just to accommodate a V-tail..."
