The UPS guy is out late today How about a photo ?

My new balls came in today I hope they will help me fly faster.

Joe is totally correct,,even though the opus fuse is thick carbon there's somthing about ,,maybe the epoxy, that makes the opus tail boom very flexible,I can take mine and bend it back and forth alot,,,not very rigid...my blast tail boom is way stiffer.
I would consider possibly running some carbon up high along the inside of the wing saddle and into the tail boom,,as this as I understand it was the point of failure on Joe M's last opus that he flew so fast the radar wouldn't pick it up anymore...

Thank's for doing the high speed research for us Joe.Probably saving some of us a few buck's in finding these thing's out on our own.

On the SRTL and Erwin sailplanes, the wings are held down with tape wrapped around the fuse and tabs on the front and rear of the wing center.
Obviously it is strong enough, and it's made me wonder,
The Opus wing tabs into the fuse in front, with a single screw in the rear, a lot of force transfered to the fuse right there.

The Opus wing has a tab similar to the SRTL, although about half in size, I know if I'm in record air, that I'm going to wrap fiber tape around the fuse/wing tab for that extra little bit of stress dispersion.

I wouldn't go that far. The sudden increase of speed and the long distance orbits threw off the gun operator. Never thought of it that way though. Makes me wonder. I guess if my new 160" gets a chance to max out the gun it will clear that up for me anyway.

Where else would the stress be concentrated? The front of the wing tabs into the fuse, the back is held on by that single bolt. The forces have to be concentrated at those points I would think.
I tend to overthink stuff.

How does one get an Opus these days? Or parts? I emailed Greg but no reply. I shortened the wingspan on my (glass) Opus this weekend due to a switch jack shorting (!!!!!! never again !!!!!!) and am interested in seeing if I can order another and maybe a new glass wing.

I'm stumped on the elevator servo thang.

I WANT to use one servo, installed in the belly, but only a single 368 will fit. The slightly shorter fatter JR ("Premium" mini servo-I forget the #) has like 65 ounces but not sure if it's OK with 6 volts. It only gives specs for 4.8 and the other JR servos give specs at both, making me wonder, I'd hate to burn up an $85 servo.

So, I can use one 368 in the belly, one premium mini servo in the belly at 4.8v, or two 368's in the nose, for which I'd need to use a tray (Plus the mounting tabs are broke off on my 368's).

Does one 368 have enough torque to drive the V-tail at warp speeds?
