I have reduced yet again the rate for low settings and increased the expo to -45%. Very much easier now with plenty of control, low rates give a good roll high rates and it flashes round..
I am now going to move the COG back in steps as the specified cog is too far forward.
nice and safe though.. With the cog too forward as it is, the inverted flight is not easy, the nose drops very quickly and it requires a lot of down to keep it level.

As it is the model is flying well, it is comfortable with a bit more speed than the SU version, but this is probably due to the cog position

New project on the table an Avro vulcan, test flight spot on, flown so far on 2 cells well underpowered, too slow a climb, but still superb. Flys like a trainer, self righting, and glides better than anything else ive got. Not my design ( shame ) but when the drawings are done I will post them, as my friend is not pc literate....dave

When you finish your test flight program, please let us know your final C of G position.
Do you find much difference between the 2 models in their flight characteristics?
Thanks.

The main difference is the extra response resulting from extending the elevators more towards the centre and directly into the props airflow. Now I have dialed this down to my liking, both planes are flying much the same..except when going downwind, the one with the extended elevators will now turn better..
This is not depending on it being the su or f15, both models will fly the same, as there are very little actual physical differences between the two designs.

Is the slot for the prop bigger on this plane?
DepronDave's F-15 has a 6 inch slot. It looks like this could be set up for an 8" prop, Which suits my current setups much better. I have DepDavs plane, but no luck with my current motor prop combos.

sorry no videos, the planes have been recycled now due to lack of room. For similar performance check out the large icarus su27, its much the same....dave

Thought I'd update this thread with an f22 based model
Built with all 6mm depron
The span is 27" .... length 36".... body section 10" width

I used parts of plans from dekan and stringfly to give rough shapes then made some additional mods of my own

The fus. width was increased to 10" which lets you fit bigger props in.
The elevators were reshaped by moving the jet exhausts back a bit, to bring them fully into the props wash, giving more thrust vectoring.
The nose was shortened a bit.

AUW is 12.5oz with a 1350..11.1v lipo

the model has some more work to do then I will get a video
