Fokker Dr 1, Albatros D. V, Spirit of St. Louis, TM Videos

The link below will take you to a site where you can view 4 different planes in flight. You will need to have RealMedia Player installed to view these vidoes, there is a link on the page that will take you to RealMedia'a site where you can install their free player. The video sizes ranges from 650k to 1.2 meg, download times vary depending on what speed connection you may have.

Nice videos! That Spirit of St Louis looks GREAT in flight. Does she fly as well as she looks?

Yes it does fly very well, the only problem I had was that the stock battery box placement and battery type made it to tail heavy to fly, it required to much added weight on the nose. I made a new battery box that uses an 8 cell flat pack which allowed for proper CG without any additional weight.

Fokker Dr 1

Yes it was under powered with the stock motor/gearbox, and the stock motor only lasted about 10 flights. I replaced the motor with a GWS 370 from a Zero, it has the same shaft diameter and mounting holes as the stock motor. All I had to do was swap the pinion gear. It will fly at less than half throttle with a 10x4.7 prop.
