My Corona Pics

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to post a few photos of my Corona. I've been learning to hover with this nice flyer, but I enjoy tinkering with it almost as much.

Most of the ideas I incorporated were found here on the Ezone. Thanks to everyone for sharing thier ideas on this board!

Hope you enjoy!

Side view showing the Concept EP-SR canopy. Thanks to Tom Viper for the idea and help with the canopy mount.

Another look at the Concept canopy. Looks MUCH nicer than the old LMH canopy.

My PC fan modification. I added it when I was flying the Fusion-7, and was having trouble keeping the motor cool. I've since replaced the Fusion with the Trinity Chameleon Pro motor, and it doesn't run as hot as the Fusion. But I kept the fan anyway just for added cooling.

Another shot of the fan. The heatsink is the Associated Long model. It really helped to cool the motor.

New rudder pushrod setup. Carbon fiber rod with Dubro ball links on both ends. Much cleaner setup and no more slop or drag. The carbon fiber is stiff enough to run unsupported down the boom.

View of Tom Viper's EP canopy mount. Popsicle stick, carbon fiber rod, and some fuel tubing. You can also clearly see the Venture Hobbies hardened steel shaft in this photo. Made it run oh so much smoother.

Thanks for the posts. I have converted a Kyoshi concept 30 with a Bell 222 scale fuse to electric. It flys well but the motor gets real hot. I am going to try the computer fan cooling idea . Can I find the fans at a Radio Shack?

tdearth: You can get the fans at Radio Shack, but they're rather expensive. If you can find a computer repair shop nearby it would probably be the cheapest place to get one. I used a fan from a 486, which is practically useless nowadays. A computer shop would probably give you one for free.

I work in high-tech, so I just grabbed one of the fans out of the junk-box from work. They were destined for the trash anyway.

It not only looks better, it comes in one piece(no pesky and difficult joining of halves).
Have fun - Cheers - Boyd
