That's when we have to start really scratching our heads for a solution.
I used to land really hot when I 1st started flying the Stryker until I learn to pull up hard in fast bursts with full elevator multiple times while gliding in to eat up some of the speed, makes huge difference. Not sure how they are once you get the weight up on them though.

Might have to bring out the field stretcher! LOL

No, not too bad.....................
Thats actually THE best news I have heard yet !!
Thats whats great about this !!!!
Get several Dudes all looking to do the same thing (go fastest) and lets see what shakes out !!!!
All in the name of Stryker !!
I wonder if/when the FJ Dudes will ever catch up ??? (SUKALO still needs to build an airframe, not just wind a motor)
We MUST stay ahead of them !!!!!!

I really think we will, and with less and less problem. As already mentioned, the funjet may have the aerodynamic advantage, but it can only carry so much power and still be flyable. We can pack more power into our Strykers, so the same low speed characteristics that make it such a great plane to fly for fun also help out with carrying the power for MAD SPEED!!!

Stryker fuses are essentially disposable. $18.99 + shipping will net you a new one from horizonhobby.com...

We all know where this will go if anyone replies.

If anyone doesn't, please read five or so pages back in this thread.

murdnunoc,

Any news from your buddy? (Stryker with Medusa 28-56-2800)

Has he tried any other props?

He's been playing around with different setups. It's a little tough to nail it down because of batteries with very different performances. He's run 6x5 Aeronaut on good batteries but still stays around 135mph.

I'm inclined to agree with Mopar that a 6" prop just runs out of thrust on a stock body.

He's also going to work on the mixing to get four-servo flappervons. But it's pretty complex so it may be a little while before he can get it into postable form.

Here is where he/we can get direct manufacturer support for Spektrum/JR radios:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_116/tt.htm

Tell him to place a detailed post there.

4S lipoly in a Stryker airframe is just a bit too much voltage for him, but lets see what the future generation battery packs can hold under load/cell…I mean other than Lipoly.

Mean while 4 cell A123 cells might be the ticket if he wants to carry the extra weight and make a lot of room (god knows where). He needs to also parallel some cells so they can handle the AMPs.

For now as it matters to the RC world; Lipoly has the highest energy density.
Your friend's HIGH KV falls somewhere in between 3S and 4S as far as max performance in a Stryker airframe goes.

That is one reason that lower KV (1700KV more/less) motors are so fine tunable. Each cell addition will not be such a HUGE jump.
Lucky for us, we know what the real KV limits/range are for 4S etc....(for a Stryker).

His motor in a Funjet with similar prop to 5.5X5.5 on large 4S will be WICKED.

Dudes................the flying field will get leveled within a few weeks. There is something coming down the pyke that will allow some very radical ideas, and the Stryker world will mark this day as a "new dawn", an epicly proportioned unveiling for us all who drool over raw speed. Not just an ordinary day, but a day that will go down in the bowels of Stryker history as the day all was equal and fair.............................................. ..coming soon !!!!!
