I'm only asking this so I can take it into account for future recommendations.

Ever changed the replaceable brushes on that brushed Graupner 6304L motor that Hobby-Lobby sells for $29?

I would appreciate whatever you remember, and feel free to PM me instead of a post if you prefer.

__________

Personally on 2 occasions I took a fairly new stock 480 brushed motor and figured out what it took to smoke it on 3S.

Later,

Gryph
I only flew it three times--long story short, it was just when I was starting out in the hobby and was in a hurry to do everything. SO, the first flight I tried to put a heat sink on the stock (parkzone) ESC/Rx and somehow messed it up such that I lost signal and crashed after barely getting off the ground. Next, I connected the servos and new ESC to my shiny new DX6 (backwards--e.g. controls reversed) and of course crashed. Next time--just prior to launch I forgot the golden rule of radio on first and then plug in the battery..and *puff* went the magic smoke (prop was blocked by asphalt and thus, could not spin). After which I still launched it but it didn't fly much better than the stock 480 of course. SO, sorry to say I basically have no information to give you.

However, with the low cost of brushless motors and ESC's now I don't see why anyone would want to bother with brushed motors anymore! I decided to buy the mega and a 25 amp ESC from someone for $80 total and have never looked back. Bought a new fuse and gorilla glued 3/8" balsa stock to each trailing edge and sanded down flush with the wing surface. That allowed me to mount balsa elevons with dubro hinges--MUCH better than the stock set-up. Probably only about 40 or so flights on her and she can be pushed much harder. 4S will likely be the limit of my comfort zone--and cubicle dweller eyesight!!

Does 53 o.z. with possible battery onboard count as a tank?

Wish me luck for possible maiden this weekend.

I got my batteries and ESC back in my hand. All soldered up and cycled.

Got rid of Dean Ultra Connectors so I can flow more amps.

10 o.z. increase over last build is a big step and I'm nervous.

I will post pictures of crash site or something more positive in a few days.

What the heck have you done to it to make it weigh that much? 10S 5000 pack?

It's all in fun. Some like to slim down as you have done and some like to Beef up like Gryphon does.

Adding MORE POWER is never a waste of time in my book.

What i mean is no matter how much power you put in that airframe you still hit a brick wall. There are way better options out there such as a 40-48 inch wing, it would be waaaaay faster, even a FJ would be a better option..

To each his own, I wish it luck on the maiden..

Diminishing gains, but you'll never hit a wall with it. If the thing really weighs 53oz I shudder at the watts pushing it through the air I want to see pics and more importantly I want to see how a person launches a 53 oz stryker, although I suppose it may have enough juice for a near vertical launch. Landings are probably fun, though.

Hey Gryphon, glad to see you made it to rcgroups...When I was reading up on your last build...I thought to myself, this thing is gonna be the fastest stryker ever or its gonna crash and burn...After seeing the pics couple pages later I was awe shocked! Did you ever find out what caused it?

Once it gets warmer here Im gonna make a micro-stryker...Basicly the front of the microjet replacing the front of stryker...bumped into a link where someone did it and it looked 2kool...
