for speed around 70-80 MPH

go with the JGF 400DF on 6x4E

it's pushing the motor a little

but that was my set up and it HAULS!!!

i think vinnie's a little conservative on his motors, the 400DF never gets hot with 6x4 and 3S 2100, and i was using the stock 25A ESC too

I really like this Stryker. :-)

I'm running a Mega 16/15/4 on APC 6x4E, CC PX 35, FMA 2100 3S (18C). I'm pretty happy with that, comfortable zipping around full throttle. Keeping the same batt & ESC, is there another motor I should try? Or, should I give a 4S a try? I'm curious if there is one component in that setup I could tweak (trying not to spend too much).

Pretty good climb:
F27 Stryker Brushless Mega ACn 16/15/4 Launch #1 (0 min 30 sec)

Decent speed:
F27 Stryker Brushless Mega ACn 16/15/4 Flyby #2 (0 min 28 sec)

I run the same setup and the cheapest thing would be a 6x5.5 prop...thats about max for a 3s and gives best performance...Going 4s you will need a BEC and run a 5.5x4.5 prop...much better than the 3s...I do have a couple vids of my 3s and 4s on video page here

Im looking to collect a bunch of stryker vids and add them to my video page...If anyone has a new vid to share, send it to me...

finster, I was looking at your site on your stryker and mega stryker builds and noticed you chose not to glass the mega stryker. Was that decision based on reducing weight? How durable was the glassed stryker?

thanks,

I am now running my stryker C with a mega 16/25/2 motor, 80A ESC, FMA co-pilot, and 6.5x6.5 speed prop.

On 3s packs, she goes around 105-110mph. On 4s its a screamer, fastest run was 128mph!

I was trying to show that 2 CF rods is all you need for that setup...I did use FG on the bottom just to keep it from getting scratched up during landing but probably didnt need it...Adding more weight and speed you would need to make it stronger with FG or extreme tape and CF rods...I seen others going crazy with CF rods making it look like a spider web thinking its stronger...more isnt always better...I added a CF rods section to my web site for a little more info...I like the FG method cuz its strong, paintable and keeps the plane stiff but it wont save you in a high speed crash...others say extreme tape is better...I havent tryied tape yet...

He has test data. As much as I like Don and his products, I think the ARC is the better choice here.
I have had several people use this motor on a Stryker. The Stryker does like a bigger prop though like a 6" prop. It needs thrust as the airframe is kind of big. I have two prototype 2200KV motors that may be a better fit. Dr.Kiwi tested one but it turned out this had a defect and was scrubbung the stators. But the numbers were not all that bad I thought.

Ok, I have my Styker kit.
Orderd:
motor (wont use the ESC..)
APC 7x6-E

I have:
Berg 4
CC 25A ESC
1500 15C 3s
2x HS55s

Think this should move ok? Once I get used to things I'll hit up Vinnie or Don for some more power.

first of all that ESC is a good one why not use? it will hold 35 amp bursts.. ask me how i know
You need a 6 oz lipo to balance a stryker properly with that motor mounted behind the mount..

Any 2200 3s will do the trick or you can add some lead weight to the nose or move the motor mount forward like an inch or so or move the battery forward 2" or so.
The apc 7x6 prop works well but if you trim it to 6.5 x 6 or 6.3 x 6 its way better amp draw is really low.

a 5x5 and 4s will give you at or about 90 mph or so

Right on. If I can get away with these lipos that would be cool for now. Ya, how does one mount this motor? My kit has this black H already bolted on.
