One of the cool things is that when my dad has his stock Stryker C at full throttle I just pass him by like he was standing still. There's also a guy out here that has a modified Dimond Dust wing that looks like homeplate and it goes 205mph and it's electric but I haven't from him in a while.

Question: Nobody seem to really talk about the stock C motor in depth, they just replace it. Has anyone tried running it with different props (APC 6x4, or 6x5.5, cam speed props, etc)??? What kind of results do you get?? Amps?? The most info I can find on this is that people have tried different props, but they don't provide any details.

Thanks
Hi

The standard 6x4 prop works well with the stock C brushless motor. I have used a Graupner Cam Speed 5.5x5.5" prop though. Both use around 25 Amps at full throttle. The 6x4" seems to have a higher top speed, but the 5.5x5.5" more thrust. The Cam prop is much quieter!

Has anyone tried a speed prop with the stryker? If so, did you feel any difference in the flight?

gotboostedvr6, how did that Hobby City motor work out for you in your Stryker? Kind of curious how well it performs...

i used the 6x4E instead of the old 6x4 on the stock C motor when i last had it, it is a little faster and it does have a little more thrust, but it's not as loud =P

What I mean is that has anyone used a speed prop the ones with the little winglets on the tip of the prop. And if you have tried them do you notice if the Stryker picks up speed? That's what I was trying to ask.

A graupner will help some but they are pricey, i dont have a stock motor in mine so i cant tell you for sure.

The hobby city batts and motor are still on the way.. dont worry Ill post up

on another note have any of you have issues with the stock elevons falling off? the stock hinges are failing on me. im currently using fiber tape in their place..

My rpm is 3000. the top speed in level flight is 135mph, and in a downwind vertical dive from 500ft is 145mph. It also has unlimited climb, it doesn't stall.

Here's a video on it. http://www.vimeo.com/609798

If you can't see it in the video good with the sceme here's some pics.
3-Dman, what kind of current/wattage are you talking?

I am curious of this also. I have a RC Works reaper wing with very similar power system. Het 3 with a 6x4 prop 60amp ESC all being pushed by a poly 4s 4000mah pack and I can't hit 130mph in a downwind decent, much less 135 level flight. It's frame doesn't have nearly the drag of the stryker either. How did you document these speeds?

a stryker will never get past 110 MPH even with 6S and a mega 16-25-3

let alone 135 straight

unless you shaved off all the unneeded foam, thin down the airfoil, glass it, put a neu 1110 in it and put it on 5 or 6S

And this brings up some interesting questions:

1. what is the best way to thin down the airfoil. Sanding?

2. How much thinning of the foam can u do before it becomes too weak?

2. How much weight does glassing add to the fuse on a per sq in basis?

1. to me i think it's sanding
2. just sand the foam down by 3-6 mm and it will make a great difference
3. it really depends, i never glass a plane myself but it adds a couple ounces according to the fellow pilots at my field
