I'm flying a moded B, and things were getting a little warm in the plane. So I drilled a hole in the battery hatch, and glued a servo arm cover/air scoop from HL over it. Adds a little drag, but everything in the electronics bay is getting plenty of air movment, and it aids in drawing air into the cover vents over the battery.

Found a picture of the stock F27C setup: (August 2007 of Quiet Flyer Magazine)

southernmd_man: Thanks for the tip. Form my modded B, I'm going to swap out the front cover with the one from the C. I'm also going to drill some real holes in the fake scoops to open the battery compartment to some more air. Then, add some holes in the rear deck for venting.

OK, since losing my 3S pack that flew out of the plane, I'm going to build a 4S A123 pack, I think. The thing will weigh about 280 grams. My feeling is that weight is not a huge problem for this plane as it relies on speed more than weight being a huge factor, although I realize launches could be a bit harder. Has anybody put a 4S A123 pack in this plane and how did it work? I'm using an APC 6X4 prop on a 2700 kv motor now. I actually plan to keep it propped the same but I just won't go wide-open throttle very often.

never heard of 4S A123 in a stryker before, but i think it's a little too much for the 2700 with that prop

On paper it certainly seems like it would be, but the 3S pack I have has a starting voltage of 12.6 vs 14.4 for the A123 setup so if I'm ok on throttle it shouldn't be brutal. Fitting the bats in the fuse may be a problem, though, in which case I'll have to do a 3S setup (3 long instead of 2X2), but then it will be slower. 4 of the smaller A123 bats would work for aggressive short flights but I cannot drop even more cash on these bats

haha true, true lipos are expensive =P

try it out, run it carefully, if the motor gets too hot then keep the 3S

Watch the motor and ESC heat! Check with the wattmeter! Work your way up checking for heat before a long run. I may have to go to A123 myself, cause they can handle the current better!

I have just read through almost all the stryker threads (wow there are alot). Just started building a stryker (friend sold it to me cheap, since he crashed and totalled the body and didn't want to rebuild). The ESC and motor are fine, so I am going to reuse them (for now) on a new body.

Question: Nobody seem to really talk about the stock C motor in depth, they just replace it. Has anyone tried running it with different props (APC 6x4, or 6x5.5, cam speed props, etc)??? What kind of results do you get?? Amps?? The most info I can find on this is that people have tried different props, but they don't provide any details.

I've had my modified Stryker C for over a year now. My set up is a Mega 16/15/3 with a Evo 4s 2100 mAh 20c. The prop that I'm running is a 5x5. My rpm is 3000. the top speed in level flight is 135mph, and in a downwind vertical dive from 500ft is 145mph. It also has unlimited climb, it doesn't stall.

i dont know about the numbers, but my medusa stryker seem just as fast on 3S

and i never heard of a 135 MPH stryker with that set up before

this might be cool to watch
