Careful!
Shot my buddy DOWN!!!

And he gave me the gun...

Call my buddy Sun morning, "Hey, wanna come over (Santa Cruz) and
fly?"
"Sure, I got this 4 foot foamy wing 300 watt brushless monster I want to maiden." was his answer.

An hour later we're trying to figure why this great beasts elevons are acting
all weird, so we switch my Tx(14) to his Tx's freq (41) and use my unused
model memory to diagnose. It worked, we figured it out, set his Tx to
the same specs as mine, and went flying.

After a lengthy pre-flight, and discusion about how to launch this thing,
we go!! Off it goes like it was meant to fly... Ton's of power, floaty, really
a strong flyer. And just a little faster than my BL SS....

TX on, Batt plugged in --- hmm no response --- move the stick around ---
no response --- hmmm ---- THUDDDD!!!

Guess what happened. Man did I feel like a jerk.
Tore the wing in half (clean break) and squished a brand new
Hyperion 3s 2500 vx. Bummer...

My Buddy took it like a trooper! We had a laugh and straightened out the
batt. (Just the wire pushed in beetween cells)

I have video of the maiden, but not the shootdown.
I stopped taking video of it, so I could go up with my SS.

dang. harsh story.

...couldn't wait for the maiden to be complete?... have a chat about how she flew etc?...
Typically, when there's a maiden, I find that most guys leave the fresh bird to have the sky to herself until it's over. Maybe that's just us.

At our field the rule is if you shoot down someone else's plane for whatever reason, you buy him a new plane and other equipment. This is intentionally draconian, and we don't have this problem.

Be more careful, you boneheads, it is not funny.

That sucks for your friend. You should have gave him at least something. Or a new plane!

Sounds like a truely unfortunate event...

If you'd showed up at the field while he was doing a maiden on his own and happened to turn on your TX and shot him down, I'd say you owe him a new plane.

That wasn't the case though... you were both working on his plane and in the excitemen of the maiden, you BOTH made the error of dual TX's. I'd say this is a shared loss.

As friends, I'm sure you two have worked it out...

Sorry to hear about the loss!

Similar thing to what Pokke described happened to me once. There I was out at the field by myself, just floating around doing circles about 20 feet high. Next thing I know I'm a lawn dart. I turn around and someone had just shown up and turned on their TX without checking freq's. Fortunately, my plane sustained only light damage (broken prop was about the worst of it). HIS plane on the other hand went berzerk and ended up high in a tree. By the time he managed to get it down it was in pieces. So I suppose there is justice in the world.

This is another reason why I like my Spektrum, keeps the list of possible boneheaded moves a little shorter.

I'm glad you don't fly around here. Honest mistake, worked out between friends. End of story. Caca Occurs.

Although, this is the reason synth modules are referred to as "dial-a-crash"!

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought you mean you shot down your buddy's plane with your plane. Perhaps with a foot launcher.

I guess the mistake was to use the other Xmitter to do the programing, turning on the
switch was a given, whether the module had been changed or not.
So the root cause was me. If Kevin said no, I would not have crashed
so, therefore I altered what was, and suffered the outcome.

In hindsite, a peice of tape over the power button, taking out the module when done
or some other preventitive measure is a must!.
And yes you can dail a crash.....Thanks for the help and the vidio...Bro.

It only took 20 minutes to fix the wing.

Kit happens....
