Ken -- how do you get the computer printout to match the color of the paint? I have never been able to make it work!

Red, if you are moderately skilled with Adobe Photoshop... using CMYK settings on your document instead of default RGB will tremendously help with color matching.

CMYK was made for printing.

RGB was made for computer graphic art.

Although, a lot has to do with the settings and quality of your monitor for that.

It's a blue window cleaning fluid. I've heard that some of the soap agents in the window cleaner stuff help the paint flow more evenly as well as the alcohol evaporating quickly.

I used water last time and did OK. But even with the very low humidity here I had to be very careful to keep the coats thin so it didn't run.

Meths used to be a tramps special, "blue". The cider is so cheap now they do not bother any more with it, except perhaps Roger

Roger...do they have Formula 409 over there? Its also a cleaner in a bottle and comes in a few colors(red being the original). Windex is simply a brand name for a glass cleaner. I am sure they have bottled glass cleaner in the UK, yes? Any glass cleaner solution will have the same effect as Windex. Windex is just formulated to not leave any streaks on glass when you are wiping it off.

For anyone that wasn't sure how to set up differential thrust on a twin and they want to do that instead of retrofitting functional rudders, here is a quick simple guide(this assumes you are using a JR or Spektrum radio as the throttle channel is number 1, rudder is number 4 and AUX is 6). If using Futaba or Hitec or whatever, simply repalce the correct channel number for the desired function...so if your radio has channel 4 as throttle...input that into the spot of number 1 on the instructions below and do same with rudder and AUX. 7 channel plus radios have more then 1 AUX channel, so you should be able to utilize whichever one you want that isn't used as non-proportional. Anyhow...here goes:

Here is how to set this mix up(this comes form Horizon)

Mix A is 4 1 with moving the stick in each direction to +100.
Mix B is 4 6 -100 both ways.
Mix C is 1 6 +100

This will slow one engine down to effect the plane and make it turn. This can be set up much more advanced style if you wish and can designate a percentage of throttle response to initate the desired direction change on some mid-to-higher end radios as well as limit at what throttle range this diff. thrust can be used at. The Jr 9303 actually has differential thrust preprogrammed as a mix, so its a matter of activating it somehow(I dont have 9303 so i dont know how to do that).

Red

I use Photoimpression 3 to select my colours and test print on paper. If its wrong then I use another colour on the pallate, an so on unill its the right colour. Then to get a final match I can change the paint colour slightly by varying the paint mix.

The GWS Aeroplanes are not exact scale so we need not have the exact shade of colour that the full sized had.

A couple of aerial shots of mine from yesterday. Really enjoying flying this bird! Seemed to be a hit with the boys out at the field.

Thought I'd share a few pics of what I am doing with mine as I build it. I decided to put the esc's in the booms since the cockpit area is so cramped. I cut a hole in the side of the boom and put a reverse airscoop over it for an air exit and drilled a decent sized hole through the front for air intake(see pics). Also, I installed servos in the booms where the radiator scoops are placed(one on each boom on the inside facing halves). These will be used as elevator servos. Yes, I am using two servos...one on each end of the elev. This will allow me to later add a rudder if I so choose and use 1 for elevator, so I had to install the servo anyhow and might as well use it for now. I will not mess with making functional rudders if differntail thrust is good enough.
