more photos.

About the canopy, please check the photos. It is what you will have.

I did not really work on this kit and just use rubber bands to hold parts together. I am just trying to show you what you will get. Especially for early bird members. Thank you for your support & remember to share you photos and video with me.

Here you can see the wing joint, cowling and how it was packed.

The GWS-38 windscreen looks to be the same angle as is shown on my 3 view drawing.

A clear nose P-38J (or that's the model my book gives it) lead bomber-pathfinder aircraft these had a bomb aimer so had a clear nose
From the few photos that I have the canopy is pretty good, it is more sloped that you would expect.

from the last set of photos from ray, the canopy, to me, is right on the money...either it was changed or the photo in post 195 just didn't do it justice...it might be hard to do, but i'm going with the below paint scheme...you think the model will fly with a feathered prop?..

The "droop snoot" bomb pathfinder airplanes had a completely different nose shape to accomidate the bombardier and bombsight. You might be able to fake it, though.

Not all Js were droop-snoots, it's just that the J was one of the most common and capable models so it was a natural choice for "creative modificatons." The F5-E recon ship is also based on the J model-- but since the GWS bird more closely resembles an F model you'd have an easier time modeling an F4-E.

As to the parts- I'm glad to see the wing sections strongly keyed- joining 3 wing sections like that can make it easy to indroduce a warp that will drive you crazy, but with the way they fit together it will be much easier to get them straight.

I like it. No matter what needs to be done to "personalize" it, I think that GWS has heard our plea and come up with a platform that we can work with.
Congratulations GWS for listening to your customers! Good work!

Just want to say thanks for putting in the option for stick mounted gearboxes. It seems that most like the simplicity of outrunners but I still like my EPS-400 setup and am glad I can use it on the P-38.

Thanks Ray,

those pictures make it pretty clear how this bird will assemble, and dissasemble for transport/storage. (except for how the tail plane is held in place).

can't wait to get my hands on one

Can't wait for this one...

Even though I said to flying buddies of mine that my day's of buying new foamies are behind me, right now all I can say is, I WANT ONE!
From the photo's posted to date the outline is as close to scale as you can get. And the canopy is dead on the money!
From the looks I'd have to say the quality of the foamwork looks MUCH improved over past GWS efforts.
