I am thinking (i.e. almost ready to order) three JR DS-285 (the new a little bit faster mini digital servo) for a T-rex SE to use for the front end (M/R.)

I've seen them mentioned being used on T-rex - sometimes T/R sometimes M/R but I can't find much on how well they work.

So anybody "out there" have any experience with these servos that they would care to share.

they should run very nicely. i am running the ds281 right now on 6v and its a thing of beauty.

I used the 281's but my hobby shop replaced 'em with the 285's for a small fee.

The 285's are wicked fast. Noticeably faster than the 281's, not even going to lie. They're probably 1/3 or 1/4th faster, which is a LOT.

They're great and precise.

On my 6v BEC, it's like O.O.

They jitter a little bit I don't know if it's normal, but they're perfect otherwise. (When I say jitter, I mean they make little jittery noises, but the servo arms are rock solid and never move without stick input.

very good servos. I have one on the tail of a heli, another on the rudder of an airplane. Fast, no slop, very good positioning. I think JR's specs are conservative, it appears to be much faster than the numbers indicate.
