Mini bob cat on floats , 24" WS, not maidened yet.

To clear the float I had to move the motor up so that the center of the prop shaft is about 5/8"above the wing , will I have to angle the shaft down or will parrallel to the wing be ok?

You'll probably want a little up thrust in the rear, the motor above the wing will have a natural tendancy to push the nose down.

Was looking at the lake we live on and thought hhhmmm wonder if a cat would take floats? My fuse is solid styro might just need some wing floats.

Anybody know if this ever flew/floated?

I did try to maiden it last summer , it got about 2-3 feet up but at a bad attitude .

I think the added weight of the floats and rudder servo were just too much for the wing area , I have started to add wing area and hope to give it another try this summer.

If my first cat (building) flies I will try it. Mine has an oversize wing as it is. Wanted a slow cat with alot of lift. looks promising.

Adding 1" to leading edge , will add about 8" to WS.

Hope this will be enough to compensate for the added weight .

Wonderful thing about foamies , can add or subtract etc . untill you get it right .

I gotta keep trying at my touch and go's before I try and water land. Maybe I can get vid of the water takeoff this weekend.

My Alley cat flies fine but needed a few mods. Added a fglass wing spar to the 32 " wing. Not so floppy now but still flexes noticibley on sharp pull ups.
Drop by YP sometime & we can compare notes.

Wing tips added , my 24" WS is now 32" WS and the chord has been increased by about 1", now I will have to try to find the new CofG .

The weather is nice today , maybe a chance to try it out !

I see yours is full house. Still building my fatcat. Tried out some glide tosses yesterday eve. Servo cap popped off and spit out a gear. Good thing it happened unpowered!! No elevator is the worst of no controls to have. Stole rud servo for elev for now. Cheers

Probably all right for the Aquacat , but not for this pilot .
