Here are the Afriel Evo instructions. Just click the folder and then download the file. I hope it works for you

This is my 560mm span Afriel powered with an AP05 and a 2S 180ma battery.
The ready to fly weight is 67g
I have put a carbon strip on the leading edge of the wing and it appears to be stiff enough without any more bracing.
Test flight will be tomorrow morning at my indoor venue in Wincanton
Flight report to follow. Thanks for the plans Andy and for your tiling Dylan

Good luck with the maiden flight and let us know how it goes. I've got an AP05 on order to put in a 560mm Afriel, but would hope for a fair bit less than 67g. I'll be interested to hear how well the little Afriel flies at this weight.

My 560mm Span Mini Afriel weighs in at 65g with an Eflite PArk 180 and the hyperions cells it also support 4 x 3g servo's.

A real blast to fly by you have to be in a nice alert mood.

Its flying on 3-00 3g servo's and the throws are about 45 degees each way on every surface. About 60% expo calms things down. Elevator never seems to return to centre perfectly buts thats the price we pay for budget servo's. Pity we cannot get D2.5's

Well that's certainly encouraging to know that it will still fly quite well at this weight. I'll still try to make it lighter and will let you know how it gets on. I have a couple of questions...
1. Do you know how the Park 180 compares to the AP05 in terms of power and quality?
2. I know there's a tiled 560mm Afriel in this thread but is there a non-tiled one? I don't think there is and was just going to scale up the 500mm one posted in reply #299 a few weeks back.

The Park 180 is a great quality little motor but doesn't have the punch of the AP05 plus an additional 4g or so!

PDF on its way Mike

Sounds like I ordered the right motor then. Hopefully I'll get it delivered this week so I can fly it at our last indoor meeting of the year.

I love My Park 180's to be fair Mike but they are destined for a twin for the EIM this year

I've got both Mike which was why I said you ought to get the AP05 and why I got another one.

Only downside to the AP05 is the 120 mounting holes which means making a mount up. Although not a problem if you know someone with access to a cutter

Best be ready for the 7'th.

You'll be able to do sycamore spins that shame the vector thrust crowd. Chao at our club had the Phase 1 P38 and mixed the ESC's into the rudder. Would do some of the most amzing pinwheels and spins

Close Dave, very close!

All I'm going to say is Differential Thrust, and if Project X goes to plan it will also have full thrust vectoring of both motors, No VPP though LOL!

Will just be for fun to be honest but who knows it might end up in Freestyle too

Have maidened the Afriel. Its quite lively even though I think I had the c of g too far forward. I had to put some up trim to get level flight. Also found it screwed out at the bottom of a loop On a positive note it has bags of power, torque rolls a treat and and has great roll rate
I knocked the motor off before I could sort out the c of g This should be a great addition to the fleet once I have sorted it.
