The only prob is Andy, you would have read somewhere that I say "ACTUNG !!! Never rely on page edges, always uses the registration marks" In effect, a tile is always smaller than the piece of paper it is printed on. so if the printer grabs the sheet on a slight angle or something it doesn't matter as the reg marks will hold true. But the page edges will not. That is the tricky bit !
cheers

A good free vector package that reads/write dxf and pdf's is called Inkscape - I use it for all of my plan edits:
http://inkscape.org/

As for tiling, try:

Lovely!!!!

As for tiling, try:
http://www.noliturbare.com/pdf-tools/pdf-tiler

I just tested this and it works an absolute treat!

Literally 3 clicks, so I am cleaning egg off my face! yeah!

It doesn't scale things but I haven't scaled any of the plans anyway, they have all been as posted.

So, go for it

All the best,
Would be great to see in progress pics?

You should check out their other pdf utilites. I use them, for my workflow to get a tiled pdf from sketchup. They have one that rotates and scales. And one that crops, particularity useful if the pdf is vector format.

I use PStill. Again pretty much a case of selecting input file, output file and then a dropdown of what you want.

Prints registration marks as well as numbers in corners to help get it all together.

I suggested Draftsight as the OP was asking about opening DXF's. Nice thing about DraftSight is in opens all the binary and ASCII versions out there. Designed as an AutoCad replacement.

CAD is time consuming but for simple work easy enough.

I did the UM Afriel Andy posted above in a couple of evenings from starting CAD to having the cutfiles. That was starting from a JPEG 3 View of the original design. Just a few lines and curves and as everything has real world units things are easy to get right.

Thanks for sharing this info, Kev. Works perfectly for opening pdf's and saving in other (more useful) formats.

Thanks for sharing this plan as well as the mini/micro Afriel's. I know that wildpalms rates the full sized Afriel and have also seen his little one fly...very precise using the micro-Spektrum gear.

One question about the full-sized plan though. Can you tell us what these parts are for. I assume some form of reinforcement but cannot see where they would fit.

Many thanks, Mike

I use CS5 & Solidworks. Together they are the answer. Bit expensive though if you don't use them professionally.
