New pylon racer.. whatcha think?

Hey all... Im new to the electric thing, but since there isnt any hills without trees down here in Alabama, my speed addiction has meant looking past dsing. Whatcha think about this? 29"ws, 11oz flying weight with a eflite 400 ducted fan outrunner turning a 4.75x4.75 apc with a 3 cell 850 mah battery. Construction is solid 1/4 balsa with basswood ribs and a spruce/carbon spar. I just want a fast plane for under $30.00. Boredom at its best!

Only ......

Toooooooo sweet . Nice clean lines. Gotta be fast . Every plane made with 1/4" sheet wings has ALWAYS been a fast mover. Also the EDF outrunner motor should be a hoot. I have a friend who usd a EDF motor in a Picojet (or something similiar) and it just went skyward fast.

Have fun with it.

Thanks! I am going to try it out today if the rain stays away. This has a fixed prop on it, and I was wondering what you all do to keep from breaking props on landings. I can't imagine having to put landing gear on. That would suck!

Yep, she is fast. Bangs turns well too for a model of this size. I may get a prop with some more pitch, as after a full throttle run that lasts about 5 minutes, the motor isn't even warm. These things are fun!

Yeah.. The kit includes a 4x1/4x36" piece of the heaviest Hobby lobby wood i could find and 25 pieces of sandpaper One of these days I will have to make plans before building so I can reproduce a plane if it flys well. For the time being, my plans are drawn on the wood itself and the plane's design goes where it wants to from there. Kinda like writing music I guess! Todd, Where do I know you from?
