Pics. of my Big B-24 Liberator !!!!

This is a big B-24 Liberator from - Esprit.com!
A little over priced but still nice.
*Wingspan: 75"
*Length: 43.5"
*weight:66 oz.s
Using 4-7.2volt 400 motors.
1700 and a 2100-8-cell pack.
MA-5.5x4.5 props
Takes right off with a light hand launch.

Very, very, very nice job!! You beat me to it darn you!! I was thinking about getting this plane as well but decided to get something else. I should of bought this.

Hmmmm.............I do have a few planes to sell.

Any in flight pics and what was the difficulty of construction?

I have no inflight pics yet,I hoping to take some next weekend.
It flys good,but not as good as my B-29.
The B-24 seems to stall more in the turns,(likes to have the power on a little in turns)plus I have my throws set a little too much(need to reajust them).

The hardest part if any was to mark,install and glue the cheap motor mount set up to the wings. Mounts are just a thin piece of plywood with the cut out in front for the 400s. Glued just to the bottom of the wing.
The wings are not sheeted, just all ribs with a carbon rod threw it.
Its strong after you cover them but I wish it was sheeted.

The Fuse (alot of room in there) needed to be reinforced inside,I installed fiberglass inside around the nose and all along the bottom.
After that I made bulkheads out of 1-inch thick foam.
Looks very cool in the air.

Hi, the covering is Monokote(Top>olive drab)(bottom>dove gray).
I used the Monokote matching color spraypaint for the fuse.
The windows>I masked off all the outside lines and then brush painted the windows with cheap black water base paint,then painted a gloss over them.

I`m now working on my P-38.

B-24

Nice job! Sounds like a good flyer also.
When I first saw it on Esprit's website I said to myself" Self , you need to get one of these." My dad was a nose gunner on a B-24 in the South Pacific, w/ the 5th Airforce, 90th Bomb Group, 321st Squadron , aka the " Jolly Rogers"
There is a book published sometime ago concerning this squadron. Has lots of photos and one has my dad in it w/ his crewmates. See Jolly Roger website.

I still like my flying my B-29 a little better then the B-24.
The B-29 just looks nicer in the air and is a smoother flyer.
I will try to post some inflight pics. of the B-24.

How do you join the wings in your B24? is there a wing joiner that goes inside the carbon tube?
Why not retracts?

There is no joiner in the caebon tube.
You can place one in there if you like but it does not call for one.
Wing halfs are epoxy together and then fiberglassed top and bottom.

The wing sits high on the B-24,adding wheels would not look right and landing legs would also have to be very long.
It has a big flat belly for landings which works just fine.

Thanks for the reply, Speedo. I think I have to add some kind of landing gear 'cause my flying field seems more a piece of sandpaper than a golf course! I'll try the new thin Robart retracts (19,2mm),and keep you updated...

Very nicely done, even australia had Liberators and we have an airfield near where I live, that they used to fly from. I have been planning a large halifax for a few years now. I would now use brushless motors and lipo's to get the weight down.
