HF Models: DG303 vs ASW28

Is anyone familiar with how the HF Models DG303 (3.3m) compares in flight to the 3m ASW28 ? Is the DG particularly more aerobatic, or would they both be considered pretty mild when it comes to slope aerobatics ?

thanks
Geoff

If you're looking at the HF line of models - always go bigger (i.e. 4m ASW 28). If you're looking at the 3.6 m version of the models then I would suggest HF DG 1000 or DG 505. DG 505 is "more aerobatic" if you will.

I have flown the HF DG 303 3.6m, HF ASW 28 4m and the HF DG 505 3.6m. My picks would be from best first to not as great last (as you see I like bigger models).

HF ASW 28 4m
HF DG 505 3.6m
HF DG 303 3.6m

My 2 cents.

Good Luck,
Martin

Does HF still make the 4m ASW28? I totalled mine and would like to replace it, but as far as I can tell, they no longer make the 4m.

Am I correct? I hope not.

I've got a NIB all molded HF ASW-28 that I'm never going to get to build (too many birds in the hanger). If interested, just send a PM.

Regards,

Steve

If you go with the sheeted wings you can always add flaps to make the plane a bit more aerobatic. I have the DG-1000 and the DG-505 and I added flaps to both models. With the flaps mixed to the ailerons I get a reasonable roll rate for planes of this size. I have not flown the 303 but the 1000 flies great and I hope to maiden the 505 next weekend at Soar Utah. I fully expect it to fly great too. Maybe not as "floaty" in light air but it should have a better roll rate and be a little faster since it has less area and thinner tips.

You can see the flaps in this flight shot.
