rc biker build off

lorenzo had a brilliant idea of having a biker build off between us all!

i think it would be brilliant fun and we could get people to use their imaginations and come up with some brilliant ideas to maybe move these bikes on abit (in design and/or performance)

i know most people are stuck for time - me being one of them
so was wondering if we should have a time limit and how long people think it should be.

would anyone be interested in doing this?

as lorenzo said, we could even put some money 'in a pot' and give a prize to the best bike - judged by people on the forum, or just do it for fun it doesnt matter to me.

would be cool though wouldnt it

warning if you vote:
your name will be shown so we know who up for it or not.
just thought id warn you incase you say its a crap idea

good idea... his bike is already the pinnacle

BTW.. I shouldn't have voted... I don't have the tools or materials to build a bike... but I have LOTS of ideas (as you can tell from the thread that spawned this one)

I just think it's a great idea to have a contest

yeah it was a great idea! as i said though all credit to lorenzo for it.

i remember dmr made an awesome bike aswell!
should ban him aswell i reckon lol.

should we limit the time we get to complete it then?
i personally think we should just let it be an ongoing thing and egg each other on to get of our a 's and finish them!

i think it would be better if it was just for fun aswell and not have any prize money cus at the end you should have an awesome bike and that will be a prize in itself imo

maybe we should make it so some people that havent got machines,
tools and materials etc can buy/scrounge/exchange parts to make up a trick bike from cnr/nf/tt etc parts?
and just make simple things or modify existing parts?
you could still come up with some good ideas
bet most people have alot of spares lying around aswell
so it shouldnt cost too much,

after all its only for fun so there shouldnt be any real 'rules'

Excellent idea. Just allow stock or readily available hop-up parts, or homemade parts that can easily be made by anyone with a dremel and hand tools.

Like everyone else, I've got some spare time. I left it sitting right beside my winning lottery tickets!

lol! yeah i knew not many people would have much time,
thats why i think its best to have it as an ongoing thing and just post pics of the bikes as theyre being built,
people would have something to look at then and get their imagination working overtime

i see scaulfi has voted! nice one shaun im sure we'd see something awesome from your side of the world!

Thanks, KNEEBOY.. I seem to do more PM'ing than posting on here.. I had a project Electric in mind to build one day, but I just need to get onto a friend at the LHS for some 3mm CF to get it started.. I'll give him a call today I think..

Well I use my hands to run a lathe & milling machine, are they considered hand tools?

Don't forget Shaun has been doing this for years. And in his line of work his painting skillz is unmatched and you cannot under estimate his creativeness.Hey Shaun just pull one of your custom bikes of the shelf and you'll be good to go. As for extreme they do excellent work too.So hand tools verses machines hand tools are fighting a up hill battle.

Now what kind of bikes onroad offroad choppers streetbikes trackbikes.Nitro electric 1/5 scale????????????

Ok, well there can be two classes..

One; scratch built bikes and best modified bike.
I know several of you would like to do something
custom. But, I think everyone who wants to enter
should put some like 20 bucks or something like
that, but I feel only the custom bikes should be
able to collect prize money.

Or say.. Deposit 20 and 5 goes towards best modified
and 15 best custom. The main reason why the custom
gets the most money is because I would like to see
some new custom bike designs, just like the big bikes
do. I bet there would be some really neat and functional
bikes designs.

I would be glad to put up the bikes on my website
for judging or have it done here. We would need to
come up with some rules, such as it must be able
to run.. The bike might look fantastic, but if it doesn't
run that's no fair to everyone else.

First.. How much would everyone like to put into the
pot for a prize? I could e-mail dave and see if he would
like to put up some 2nd or 3rd prizes?

I bet Gotnitroonline or 2wheel would be willing to setup
sometype of deposit system for the jack pot prize money?

How much time would everyone need?

What type of rules would you all want to see?
