Ungooping Goop

I got this tip from tbroeski here on RCG, and it works great for removing gooped-in servos. Soak a string in toluene and saw it back and forth in the goop line to pop the servo free.

Always make new airplanes a similar color scheme as existing ones, they are less noticable that way.

Good point. I know my mom cannot tell the difference between a Switchback and a SlowStick if they are both red, but if one were blue, she would catch on. I imagine it might not be much different with a wife.

Well I missunderstood Davids intent. I'm always anxious to "show off" my new planes. I guess David wants to keep certain things secret at home. Most of my planes are purchased by my wife for bday, fday and anniversary and Christmas. The rest I make from scratch.

Sounds like you have a prescription. Most of us are crack addict and have to hide it.

Typ,

I borrowed the money from my wife (girlfriend at the time) to buy my first 4 channel proportional radio in 1966 and married her so I would not have to pay her back. I've been paying ever since.

Keep a 2-3 foot T-bar with sticky backed sandpaper (150 or 220 grit) next to you at all times. Best way to true-up wood to make it straight or flat. Or just to shorten long cuts, or to shape.

Keep extra tips for your CA bottle.

Keep a jar of acetone close by for when your bottle of CA clogs up. Goto tip 2.

Spray cans. When done, but have paint left over, turn can upside down, and spray till no paint comes out. You will never have a clogged tip again. If tip is clogged, drop in jar of acetone.

For those of us who hang our planes up by the tail,
I now make wing socks from bubble wrap and wing stands from foam rubber.
Useful for transportation to the park too. prevents some of the hangar rash issues.

whatever work you are going to do on your bench, SIT DOWN. Don't build while standing. I can't explain why, but it really helps.

Landing???....again... I'm confused....isn't take-off everything. After all you can fly a plane without landing...it's called crashing...I should know. But you can't do either without take-off. You may have been...ahemm..."off target abit" with that "landing is everything" concept.

Take off's are optional, landings are mandatory. So my vote's on landings.
