Yeah we can do that, the bulk of it sits in the slot we made for vertical stuff with gubbins taped on. We dont do as much FPV as we thought we would!!

Maybe is true. I e-mailed them twice over the last month with no answer. Looking at their site there seem be a lot of no stock items including the only two Swift II models I could find.

Well, I just finished the maiden night flight of the Swift II night flyer. I will get some pics of it later, but it is awesome. I wanted slow and fairly quiet with this one since its main purpose is night flying. I did stick it in the top of a large cedar tree trying to do some rolling circles But was able to get her down pretty quick. Only got one night flight in, too muggy and too many bugs. And I tried to tackle a horseshoe stake with my shin after getting the wing down from the tree. I still had fun but was sweaty and the skeeters were winning. Bug spray on the next round

Before the night flight, I went out in the day and trimmed it out. Realized I didn't have the brake on the ESC so got it all trimmed out and CG set and brought it home and got the brake on. Huge improvement, she flys much slower and will float like a leaf in the wind at about 1/8 throttle!!

Gear

hexTronik 24gram Brushless Outrunner 1300kv

I mounted it with a different mount so the thrust line is even with the wing and not above it. And the tube portion of the motor goes right into the black mount, didn't use the disc base.

GWS 8040 DD prop similar to this, but lower pitch

Strip LEDs
Green on bottom

Amber on top

And a Spektrum AR6100

If I did it over I would put the Amber on bottom, the green are a bit intense on the 3S packs. So a bit less lite on the bottom would be easier on the eyeballs. Its not fast with the slower motor on there, but I didn't want that. But it sure will slow down and at half throttle I can toss it all over the place. Photos to come!

Diggs,

I'm putting together one myself, and I'd like it a bit faster if possible. I'd like it light and fast, so I was thinking what are my options for this. The 24g blue wonder 1300 + 8x4 would have plenty of thrust for unlimited vertical, but I assume it would be slow. I'm thinking a bit higher kvm, maybe a 1900 Turnigy (http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=2110 - I have one on hand) and maybe a smaller prop with higher pitch, maybe a 5x5 or a 6x6. I plan to keep the amps at 10 and still go with the Rhino 610mAh and a 10A ESC. The motor is a bit on the big side, but I don't have a blue wonder above 1500 and 1500 may be a bit slow?

I would go with one of these motors.

1700kv blue wonder style

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...trunner_1700kv

Or

1500 Kv I have this on my FireFly with an 8x4 and it is pretty quick, but not blazing fast by any means. Very similar to the Superfly speeds.
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...trunner_1500kv

They now have basically the same motors in the Turnigy brand as well
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...s_Motor_1700kv

They have a 1500 KV version also and a 1300. I think it might be a repackaged BW with the Turnigy label.
NICE SALE PRICE!

Yes, the 1700 BW is probably closer to what I want, but I don't have any on hand, and I don't want to wait a month to get it... maybe I'll go with the 1500 - I have one of those lying around. I'd like to maximize for speed - Craig has a pretty fast one and I'd like to try to keep up... BTW, isn't the 8x4 too much for the 1500 BW? I thought that it would be over 10A and fry the motor, ESC and maybe the Rhinos...

Yeah, it is a bit hard on the motor, but so far I have had great luck. Heck I am running the 8x4 on a 1700 on my superfly Stress testing it I need to swap it out for an 1500kv, it really is too much for the motor, but it comes down hot, but not sizzling burn you finger hot.

If you want speed, then you may want to go for a chunkier motor, but you will need a larger lipo to balance and will lose some of the really slow stuff. I might be at the field tomorrow, was there all day today. I have 2 Swift II's and one with a 1700kv on it and a gws slowfly prop in the 7 in range.

Yes, I know, Craig says I'm a chicken 'cause my motors come down cool .

I know, that's the narrow line I'm trying to walk here - I want some speed while keeping it light - that's why I was thinking to go lower in diameter and higher in the pitch.

I'd love to come, but I have a pretty sick kid on my hand and I doubt he'll be any better by tomorrow morning - actually I may end up to the ER this night...

On average how fast can you push the stock setup? Whats a good size prop to go with? I have a motor that can go up to a 7X6. Will 1300 3s be ok?

Let's see how I'm doing with the CG, I may end up using the 1900 - that ought to do the trick. BTW, what KV motor and prop you use on yours? It seems a smaller than an 8" APC, but not sure what it is... 7"? 6"? I like how yours accelerates like a bat from hell. I'll try to keep mine really light and fix it as needed (rather than trying to anticipate what might break).

I posted some pics of my night flyer here for anyone interested. You can see how I cut out the section between the elevons and installed the black tube mount and burried the servos so the arms come out the top and installed lights.
