After countless trials, probably about 5 or 6 motor/esc combos I have narrowed down the best motor to use for FPV on the plane.

http://www.valuehobby.com/product_de...=1&item_id=159

with any 18a esc on a 8x3.8 prop. I flew her today on a 2200mah lipo and she flew great but would fly even better with an 1800mah lipo.

I have tried with a Greyson super 2200kv w/ a 36a ESC and it was awesome having unlimited vertical but it sucked only having 5-6 minutes of flight time. You will still get great vertical out of this new motor but flight times shuold be in the 10-15 minute range depending on throttle management.

Again this is for an FPV version of the Swift2, there are much better motors out there for the lighter normal non fpv version.

Here is a video from today with the new motor, I was at about 1/2 throttle during the flight.

Thanks for the info but I will be a bit slow on the planes for almost 5 weeks as I am away on holidays and have only fitted in the motor home 2 MiniSwifts - one with LEDs. It is a fairly new motorhome but not the BIG size of the American ones so did not fit the Swift in.

Your one of those smart asses like my mates. (flying in and out of trees down low). I'll get there as I have the planes to do it now. The FY 20 on the Swift should help make it easy for me. I may have mentioned I also have a AXN Floater set up also with a FY20 and also working on a EasyGlider with a FY21. So I should be able to have some smashing fun soon. (hope not). I just need to add panning to all of the cameras.

I'll check out the other forum and motors but mine is flying good At the moment but just got to get the nut behind the Tx to pull the levers properly.

Thanks

Do I need to spray any 3m90 or anything before I paint this foam?

Seems like when pulled out of the jig it left some of the release agent on here, so I don't know if the paint will adhere very well. Thanks, -Tyler

The "Old Days" of the bad distribution are hopefully over. Haven't heard of any problems since Common sense RC took over that roll. But I didn't know Amain was also stocking, thanks for the tip!

Well guys, I finally finished my swift. Good thing I built it strong because I did a lot of crashing

I think it's tail heavy, so I'll be adding some nose weight to the right side of the wing (It was also heavy on the left because of my VTX).

Heres the Video:

Swift II... 10 Crashes! (4 min 0 sec)

Fitted my Swift with the AXN floater Jet motor the other day. That's more like it! Just on the overpowered side, at full throttle for a couple seconds in level flight it will pitch nose down and straighten out when throttled off. It had a 6x4, i tried a 5x5 and it seems almost as fast, but tamed down just enough that I can keep it level at full throttle. Still launches vertically and specks out in a few seconds and makes more noise, and a little more manageble. Now I'm happy.
If anyone is interested, HK are carrying the replacement motor now. Out of stock, of course.

You guys just made me go and pick the Swift off the shelf and install FPV gear into it...
Poor wing is covered in dust, after starting with multicopters I never cared again for planes.
