Hi!

I pay much attention to generall eye apealing outlook of the sailplane.
I also choose unconventional method of making fuselage, but end product is strong and surpisingly light.

Mitja

BTW, I send the plans for Guppy one year ago to the modeller in Brasil, but unffortunately I lost his e-mail on computer crash I wonder if he complete the glider...
I hope he will contact me if he find out this thread about Guppy

Lovely design Mitja.

It's good to see a nice wood model for a change. I do like the glass and foam planes too but handcrafted wood is more satisfying somehow!
I may have to build another wood plane in the not too distant future!

Simply beautiful, Mitja. This is definitely on my must-build list (only two planes in front of the Guppy). I love the elegant lines you got with the carved balsa fuselage. Hopefully I'll be able to get my version close to what you achieved. Also, if your friend who is kitting the Guppy is unable to ship to the US, is there any way you could have it laser cut here (i.e. through LaserArts.com or StevensAero.com) since that would eliminate the cost and hassle of international shipping.

Thanks again for your beautiful design and great plans,
Brandon

It is not a bad idea, Brandon, to really contact one of producers in USA in order to start making a KIT there!
Thanks for the hint!

Hi.

This is a beautiful plane, and the fuse building is very smart, specially the covering of carbon tube. Congratulations.

I'm going to build the plane. In fact, this is going to be my first "classic" buid, after some full-fuse deprom/foam models.

Since i am starting in this hobby, im using only economic brushless motors, and lipo batteries. How much thrust should i use in this airplane for a slow fliying?, and if i eventually build the pylon wing?

Thanks for the design. I've fallen in love with her, seriously.

PS: It would be very nice if you can post the templates as used in the laser cut. This way we only have to glue these templates in the balsa, and cut with a sharp knife, no photocopies nor copy/paste... :-)

Any news about selling the kit in europe (im from Spain) or the USA

F5j plan

Has anyone managed to download Ultralajt's F5j plan?
Every time I try, it tells me I don't have access to the site to do this. I registered with the site last week and got an e-mail saying once approved I would be able to use the site. Nothing since then.

If anyone has the plan, could they e-mail me a copy.

Thanks

Hi Guppy admirers... I've been considering building one of these beautifully designed birds. I found Mitja's plan on profili2.com website the other day and was very impressed with the thorough plans, then when I found this thread I've placed it in the must build list! Its nice to have a plan and a build log to help with the build.

I'm a fan of 2m gliders though, so the first thing I've done is taken some licence and enlarged the plans 135% to 2025mm WS. I'll also build the hotliner wing as I want ailerons... I'm not much of a fan of E/R only. I would like to have the glide properties of the non aileron wing aerofoil though so I might play with using the normal wing aerofoil with the hotliner wing layout. I havn't studied the different aerfoils closely yet so there might not be much difference anyay.

Hope you don't mind the enlarging bit and possible aerofoil mods on your original design Mitja

I just copied/enlarged my PDF plans copy......the Guppy is on my short Winter build list. I think it looks great....I'm anxious to start it. I believe I'll follow the plan and go with the polyhedral wing with E/R....Maybe a new graupner geared 400 I just got on Ebay.....Ahhhhh..the dreams!

Mitja, Looks like your having fun.. wouldn't mind sailing with you!

Which F5J sailplane plan? GUPPY somehow fell into this category, but I believe that could not be competetive with present F5J ships...

Do you think the F5J glider on first page, that is pictured without covering?
I draw the plan also for that F5J glider, so...

tell me which pllan do you prefer (Guppy, or F5J glider), and give me your E-mail so, I can send you. And dont forget the file format, that you prefer!
